House Fire Middleton frist crews were on scene within 6 mins, always good when your just driving in to town from strike team when the pager drops and the smokes visible

Just set up a video in the cab of the 24p or the 34 and push the button as you leave the station...

Was the only lt on the truck and also the only driver so bit of a bugga would have got some great pics but hey thats not the job were meant to be doing.
We've got a new guy in our brigade from england that used to setup video surveillance stuff for the police choppers over there so might have to get him to whip something up for us.

Yeah all our BA guys who came out on 24P had their PBI and structure helmets but i think the one BA guy from Pt Elliot only had his nomex with him.

Yeah us and elliot don't have very many BA operators but we managed to pull 5 between the 2 brigades for that job.

just ask our GOs.... nomex is fine for structural firefighting,,,,,,,

PBI is the only way to go, but if you only have nomex then you do what you gotta do. Didn't stop us before we were issued with PBI.
Think back to the days of overalls, woolen turnout coats and topgaurd helmets.

That wouldn't be the group that has stockpiled a heap of PBI and (in my opinion) is putting the lives of their F/F's at risk would it??

Well has anyone brought it up with the CFS or State Government that theyre paid for PBI is going to waste or union or anyone but GO's?

There is a way of making them to issue them quicker, everytime you go to a housefire, and have to go inside waering nomex. When you get back to the station do a hazard near miss form. After a few of these, region will start asking questions, or ring region everyweek to ask them why it hasnt been issued, this will have region asking your GO's what the hell is going on.
