Captains as managers of a brigade should set the example not the other way around.

Next time you have a brigade meeting drag out the SOP's and COSO's and read out the relevant sections starting with SOP 2.1 the minimum response to an incident is in a 24 appliance or larger,or 2 x 14 or QAV's(Not your private vehicle) :?

Next see Operational Management Guidelines Section 48 Receiving and Responding to Incident Calls-When responding appliances Minimum 4 personnel for Type 24 appliances and greater.
Ensure all responding firefighters wear appropriate level of PPE and equipment when boarding appliances.

So start reading Captains :-P

Plus theres another real problem of brigades often picking up volunteers just a few hundred metres away from the station and letting them get dressed on the way to the incident just because they didnt make it to the shed on time

Unfortunately out my way, as long as the are in gear before they are working the incident, this is sometimes the easiest or only way (depending on time of day) to get a crew

Well said SA Firey i think the Captains should be setting a good example by following the SOPS and not constantly ignoring them
