431 broken

I believe 431 tried to go off road, opps.

The truth of it is while fighting a grass fire it sucked up sparks into the air cleaner box causing a little fire :wink:

Same thing happened in Canberra, they lost the whole truck, Scania's have paper air filters, this is what happned to 431, no fault of their own, it has now been fitted with a mesh screen.

It was a common design fault with the Scania's and the ACTFB knew about it 5 years BEFORE the Canberra fires :-o

The chances of this happening now to the pumpers is somewhat remote now!
Well, to SAMFS Scania's anyhow.

There was a extensive modification performed on all the Scania's in the fleet, which included not just a mesh filter, but a whole new alloy air filter box to replace the plastic one, new fire resistant hoses and fittings, and a fire resistant air filter.

I know this, because I did ours!

Good to see that MFS took affirmative action to prevent it happening to anymore of their appliances. :-D

Also if you post photos, and they are not yours at least give credit to the photographer.
