Do SES have a mission statement?   Is it something like "To serve the public, when they can't be stuffed doing it themselves, or paying for a contractor".
Once again looking at the pager site SES seem to get called out to a lot of trivial tasks, that you should never have to be bothered with.
Maybe my view is wrong but some of the low priority tasks, that you are paged to should be handled by someone that is payed to be incovenienced, either way it would be hard to maintain numbers and morale!

Agreed, but the MFS ComCen cannot filter all calls. Filtering the incoming telephone calls is part of training for SES SOCU volunteers.

Not all incidents paged to a metropolitan SES Unit will get a white truck attending. The local Unit duty officer will make that call after receiving more details.

Sometimes a tree branch threatening is a nothing job, but at other times it could take out a room of the house & thus the people if they are in the room.
