As someone who works in the safety industry I think you are wrong there are a number of brigades and units that would and do have the equipment and man power to do such a rescue.Down here in the SE its a joint job by Naracoorte and robe CFS along with the help of the SES from wattle range and gambier.I sure as hell would like to know who in safecom is telling you this crap as its wrong....

The answer to your question is No not trained on turbines! And no only cliffs. However we have people who are (including my commander). If there was a requirement for us to have a team here, then we would form a team from members of units here (just as we have for normal vertical rescue).
As I said I'm not sure who you talked to at SAFECOM, but I'm sure the operational commanders were not part of that group! Knowing those guys there would be no way they would advocate using contractors to provide a service that is by legislation is collectively ours (the implications are not worth considering). In my view it is the thin edge of the wedge, in your US volunteer EMS were replaced by payed contractors for the glory stuff in many locations. Now those volunteers are leaving, so the US is slowly loosing
"surge" capability!
Again the specialist capabilities are within our services & except for the requirement by employers to train their own personel in self rescue (OHS&W act Section 19), there is no need for private contractor involvement.
I can guarantee that if this topic comes up in the next 5 weeks I will argue strongly against the involvement of contractors in rescue! After that - well in won't be my problem will it?

SAPC you obviously don't have a clue. If you think the guys on hear are just some hacks hanging about on the net you are very mistaken my friend. Id suggest you start getting your facts straight instead of dribbling the fecal diarrhea you have been dishing up. Sorry had to be said.  :evil:
