Hybrid Hino
« on: August 08, 2008, 06:11:29 PM »
At the Sydney Truck Show was a hybrid Hino based on the current series.

Could you see CFS, or the government as a whole adopting this technology for appliances?

I can't really see it happening. I think at the moment it would just be making the trucks way more technical than they really need to be.

The only government hybrid cars I have seen on the road are Toyota's for IMVS medical couriers and a few for Royal District Nursing Society.

Seriously, would majority of the CFS trucks really do that many kilometres (except for high incident stations) in the 20 years to warrant the extra cost & maintenance ?

I am about to convert my car to gas because we do 25,000 kms plus per year. What is the average kilometres on a 20 year old CFS truck ?

Majority of the Mileage for CFS Appliances would be the Delivery Run from the Interstate Manufacturers ;)

Strike Teams, Hazmats would be other examples of high mileage.

Most of the one's I have seen at Auction were under 20,000 kms, our last truck we got rid had 52,000 kms, but that was rare.

Our 14 year old 24 has done 42,000 kms.....although at least half of that has been done at training & sunday morning truck runs.
