I should have clarified and said that SAAS medical officers have a DR callsign.
Am guessing that Uncle Hugh is DR1 and Bill is DR2 and maybe Evan is DR3..

From my south coast days, I think Lyn Gardiner (yankalilla) was DR9...

Because they have no markings ie ("AMBULANCE"), a mate of mine saw the lights flashing and he thought it was a police patrol. Maybe SAAS should consider placing "Ambulance" text (maybe in green) on the bonnet and sides of the car. Make it easier to show it is a SAAS vehicle and not SAPOL  :wink:

..thereby completely defeating the purpose as to why these cars are unmarked. 

[ie: can't take the car to the shops on the weekend]

it's not as though they're pretending to be cops either.....

So what types of incidents do the SAAS Medical Doctors go to (DR2). And also is it Holden's, Fords and Mitsubishi's or are there any Volkswagen's? Also I agree, Adelaide drivers are terrible, saw a guy yell and scream because an Ambulance (with lights and sirens) moved over to his lane and he missed a green light. Impatience is the worst thing about Adelaide drivers, only had to wait 2 minutes.

Delta Romeo can go to any job they wish if they are the closest resource, and usually call up and nominate they are in the area to respond.

PS If you dont know who Dr.Bill Griggs is, just look on the cover of the Adelaide 2010/2011 White Pages :wink:

it's funny...I've heard people taking the piss out of Bill since him and I were cadets together waaaay back in the stone age 70's. Whether it's the tall poppy thing, professional jealousy, or just sheer filtered-mindedness, but when the brown stuff goes into orbit courtesy of the fan.....he's usually found at the front end doing things that a lot of others at the back end talk about doing.

I am sorry to say but I am disgusted by the words written by people about Dr Griggs. This man has dedicated most of his life in the pursuit to help people in the worst time of their life. He has studied for years and possibly still studies consistantly to give the best care he can. If I could only be 10% as good as him in life and career I would be happy.

Been doing some research on Dr Griggs, and he certainly is an inspiration. With the things he has done to save lives and the extent of traveling he has done, defiantly sums up what a top bloke he is. Being Australian of the year in 09 is something he deserves. SAAS are very lucky to have such a top bloke. Good on ya Bill

We had a nasty job (RCR) on the Princes Highway near Meningie. Bill was travelling along the Dukes highway and heard the radios messages....he diverted his travels and detoured the extra 50km to attend the scene to assist.

Reckon Bill has a big hat rack in the boot and at each job he decides which one to wear - Medstar, Army, SAAS, Doctor, ARGG (All Round Good Guy).  Oh to be that talented
