Look at the time of the first page (13:42) and the ETA (5 min). Compare that to the subsequent pages (13:49 & 13:51). Wonder if the ETA still stands for the default brigades, or weather they got paged after the landing?

I am making a guess here, but the faster way to send a subsequent page is to use the computer 'copy & paste' function within the AirSource computer. Thus the ETA would be based on where the phone call was received from whoever (I assume SAPOL).

By the time the operator types the message, the AirSource computer dials out and the paging network sends the first pager message, the plane would have been lining up the runway anyway.

But if I received that information on a pager message, boy would I move as quickly as possible to respond.

Due to a direct link in SOCC the page should only take 4-5 seconds to go from the SOCC PCs to the brigades pagers, after being typed and info relayed from other services...

My information could be 'out of date' but I understand that the CFS building is not on the SAGRN fibre loop, thus is not a direct link.

I doubt it...it was about 70kms from there.  I drove near there today and it seemed like road works of some sort but i didnt get close enough to have a look.

SES response priorities used by SES SCC are:

P1= SES and MFS within response boundaries. Lights and Sirens.
P2= SES only, lights and sirens
P3= SES as soon as possible
P4= respond when convenient for the volunteers
NIL= no response required by SES

as far as i can see by reading the page no mfs went to this call the reason it had MFS: at the start of the message is that the call came from mfs, if it came fromne SOC it would have ahd SOC: at the start. hope this helps

You arent the only one who would move really quickly to respond to an emergency like this BAJADS :-D i've had to fly out the door about half a dozen times in the last few years when SOC paged Kalangadoo for a fire call

The most recent was in May for the CHH Mill fire in Nangwarry on hearing that pager sound in the afternoon boy did i move  8-)

MFS didn not attend, however there commcen pages SES units, and so the prefix for there response messgae would be "MFS: RESPOND:"

LOL: saw the news footage.... every channel!
You whould have thought one of them would have noticed the depth marker on the ford was showing the water was almost as high as the cruiser....

Good to here all are safe and well (even if a little cold with a slightly dented pride). Will be a good story for future trainees.

Might take just a little effort to get the vehicle out I think!
