Is it encoder or decoder ? I thought they were Alpha decoder units ?? Seen a couple people call them encoder units ??

I was at work but beleive the first thing they did was unplug the Alpha unit. Maybe wrong cord? I also told them to try taking out the phone line as a temporary measure. Obviously we wouldn't want to leave either the unit unplugged or the phone line out overnight with staion unstaffed. Especially given that it's rare for a call to come through Alerts anymore. Although I'm sure we could utilise the old every member in the Brigade phone alert thing if we could remember how

Ours went off just after 3 in the morning last year and have seen a few around the state go off between 3 and 4 in the morning, definitely not a coincidence

Several in our group have gone haywire at odd times... Something interesting we found with ours, is that if you transmit with a VHF radio within 1 metre of the Alpha decoder, it sends out response messages randomly... go figure
