Luckily it was only a bit of condensation from the roof mounted cooling units. It did look like a goer when we arrived though, no wonder someone called it in.

The pager messages you are seeing are being sent to techs or something, not to the Mt Barker pagers. ( I run my own PDW)

Is it really necessary to respond 3 brigades / units to a tree down?

Have to agree with you there, why have 2 SES units going as well as CFS? Bit of overkill there?

Is it really such overkill? Maybe it's overkill that SES drove past the CFS responding to the call as there was no traffic hazard CFS were responding P2 sitting at a red light intersection (pump/rescue with crew of 4) when they drove priority 1 through the intersection with a crew of 2. Maybe it's not on overkill that CFS / SES went although Burnside were back in station as the tree (or more like twig) had been cleared from the road when a second SES unit continued to respond priority 1... at this stage CFS were back in station and on the way home from there! I'm starting to think that's a bit of overkill... Overkill it might be but atleast at the end of the day the public got a service and the job done. Interesting the Lewiston job seemed to be underkill as SES were called from Kapunda I believe with 5 other rescue resources closer with no CFS or MFS also responded.... I believe this "ownership" of calls you continue to talk about is childish and public safety should be the foremost consideration.

hahahaha.

oh by the way has anyone considered the fact that it might have been a big tree? requires a couple of chainsaws and traffic control? but it probably wasn't. :|

Bizarre behaviour, I would have thought that if the tree was already down then it isn't going anywhere and priority 2 would be fine.

I know the SES out here respond P2 to nearly all tree down jobs, why is it different for some units and not others. Having said that I know of a CFS brigade nearby that responded at least one truck priority one to a tree down job about a week or so ago, interestingly the SES were responding P2.

You will find that P2 for SES means that there is no fire truck  going but still a lights and sirens job. P1 means a fire truck is responded too.

There is a certain local brigade around here that will turn out two appliances P1 to a tree down. Rather embarassing, but hey, the SOP's can be interpreted to allow it. Then again you can get what we had a few years back:

Respond Tree down, SE Freeway
Respond MVA SE Freeway, Car Vs. Tree
Respond MVA SE Freeway,  2 Car

All in the space of 5 mins.
