Maybe it was because I had been on a kayak camp on the Murray for a week with not the best food, go the Trangia, but Mt Pleasent bakery had the best pasty I ever ate.  Even had two.  Need to go back there one day and get another one.

There new slogan should be "Where the filtered filtered are you"

Now this if funny - just wrote in the new Australian Ad campaign slogan - see above and the 'system' has filtered it!!!!

Not even the pommy government could stop it being used!

Either this is bureaucracy at its slowest (trying to catch up with the advertising world) or a highly inefficient filtering system that is also years behind :-D :-D :-D

Either way - great laugh for first thing in the morning!!!!!!!!!

as far as food in the hills you can't go past 2 places [...] and the crafers chicken shop (good food AND you get a discount if you prove you're in the CFS!

it seems to have closed down, was shut with a sign on the door last friday when I went there anywhere!

PS why the hell is "h-e-1-1" a banned word? are we all assumed to be yanks with their weird ideas of "bad" words?

yeah loosen the noose, firefrog!

i don't think crafers chook shop is closed down, it looked pretty open the other day. it does have weird open times though. for some reason i think theres one weekday where its not open at all.

good chicken though, yeah we got some heavily discounted stuff for a first aid course at the station. i think we've gotten food there on the way back from a strike team as well.

P F, just wear a CFS shirt, theres enough lighter wielding psychos out there already!

the sign on the window said it was for sale and it was all locked up but according to the opening times on the door it should have been open.

you don't need the t-shirt, I just ask for CFS discount and get it.

I travel to Bordertown to do a few jobs here and there and I don't think you can beat the bakery opposite the police station.

Great pies and pasties!!

One in main street of Penola is good too!

I went there again the other day and it was open again. The deal is that the place is up for sale and if not sold by the end of May will close for good, but until then is back open as normal.

Region 1 chicken and chips. 50% off for all vollies.
the place would clean up big time.
and you even have a special menu!

"yeah, i'll have the pumper chicken roll, and a 14 size bag of chips"
"the 24 size is only a dollar more"
"na, i'm right. oh by the way, i'll have some hotpad chilli sauce too"

oh dear.

yeah, I saw a closing down sale sign out the front the other day. How do you have a closing down sale at a chicken shop. Do you buy a yiros and get a free deep fryer or something?

just to resurect an old topic:  am spending a week in Pt Elliot early November, I see the bakery in Pt Elliot and Goolwa are both recommended here but what about a decent fish and chip shop?  (thought I'd ask the locals)
