Barker rescue is an Izuzu.

I think the reference to trucks was souly identifying the fact about lighting, not the make of truck. (Another thing I like on the Mt. Barker Dennis is the High Vis striping on the back, very effective in my opinion and should be introduced firstly onto all appliances working in built up and highway areas, and then across the board.)

The coucil truck comment is fair (and im guessing in good humour), as heck, our trucks are white ! If we had skyjets people would think the cherry picker from the local council was arriving on scene..

What upgrading is this that the Barker trucks have? The have lightbars/front facing strobes/headlight flashers... What is different to anyother CFS appliance? (Yes the Dennis has side facing red/blue lights but hey, thats what you get with a purpose built fire appliance)

I thought all emergency services sirens have to be below a certain volume for EPA reasons, and so the sirens are quiter now than they used to be. I know ours aren't that loud, but it always feels like ours are louder than SAAS and SAPOL...

Depends what speakers and power etc etc..

Some sirens may be able to produce 200w but if the speakers are twin 35w speakers it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out its going to be quiet.

I saw a link on the site earlier, http://www.emergencyandsafety.com.au - I looked on the site and there is heaps of products and info about lights and sirens.

Barker took their mini-bar lights off their rescue and fitted a full length bar with a clear lens in the middle it is very effective..

As Mawson tanker has a mini version of a crank (sort of like the finger on 204) for lifting the port. dam off the truck to ground and visa versa.

Yep, white light definately does the trick !

Sorry I wasnt clear enough in my post. I have seen somewhere a CFS appliance set up like an ETSA truck with a bucket and crane set up on the back. Think it was from one of the eastern brigades.

A metro SES unit had one of these, not sure if they still have it?

You sure you're not thinking of a photo that did the rounds of a 24p or 34p waiting to be delivered that had an ETSA truck or similar in the background. You had to look twice before you realised what was up....

Warning lights on the appliances definately needs improving.... personnaly I think the vectors are most impressive. The Dennis and Stirling Pumper stand out very nicly driving down the road.

The LED Lighting is a vast improvement on the old incandesant style, but I wonder if their heads are screwed on when placing them....
