« on: May 09, 2006, 10:18:08 AM »
hey f/frog

what are the odds of getting a specialist thread in confined spaces and rope rescue. It could live with the CFB and RCR threads

cheers

I've seen confined space technique used during RCR training a couple years back when i was a interm member of the Wattle Range SES there was a Road Crash Rescue Course in Mount Gambier

After a theory session all SES volunteers were taken out into a yard adjacent to the SA Water depot where there was a few RCR simulations and the group i was in happened to have a simulation where a car was rolled on it's side

Basically the objection of this simulation was to provide first aid &
protection to the casualty inside while crews worked to remove the windshield

Since i was the only CFS trained member there my job was to climb up and slide through the drivers side window and shield the casualty while glass was being removed so in a way i was doing confined space training

Just write confined spaces rope training in a topic title in training thread.

We are talking confined space, as in the confined space training that requires HAZMAT/Monitor Hazardous Atmospheres and Rope Rescue yes?

thats the one. people trapped in manholes, wine vats, big water tanks etc. All the dark, tight places most of us don't wanna be. Sorry just realised i had thread instead of forum in the title!

I think you mean "Board", not thread, OR forum ;)
Could be good to have a 'specialist rescue' board, but perhaps the "Vehicle Rescue" board could just be renamed to "Rescue" and it would cover RCR and Specialist / rope rescue...  ?
