No ..... none of us would, thats why the NSWRFS is taking over!

Well they are trying to take over the ACT so why not us two????

Serously - Pete, maybe one day we will see a unified SA Fire and Rescue Service, but I don't think it will happen in my life time!

The despatch of jobs needs to be better. Some CFS brigades have said that they dont want MFS direct paging them to incidents even if they receive the phone call direct (MFS). They prefer for mets to take the details and then ring CFS and tell them usually wastes at least a couple of minutes which can be critical.

dispatch could definitely be better.  I've heard the ambos phone in to SOCC to respond CFS to an MVA, SOCC took the details then phoned MFS to respond the brigade.  (This was in an area where the group is dispatched by MFS.)

hopefully SACAD will fix these things, but I sure hope SOCC retain the ability to directly respond brigades as well.

One fire service is a great idea but unfortunately as seen in other states there seems to be a negativity between paid and vollie members.

Also how would funding be done?  Hopefully in a fair way as i have heard rumours about the TFS (Tasmanian Fire Service) where the country get bugga all and the city get heaps.

If these problems could be rectified then why wouldnt you embrace it?

Fund on membership (active) activity rate (training & response) and risk within community - allocate resources to match risk, then $$$ to crew those appliances (i.e. fund PPE, equipment - not necessarily wages!)

Yeah true...what was i thinking.

Its better then it used to be though.  It used to be like a bomb of money exploded in Adelaide and the further you got out the less money you got.
