I did a business and office Admin Cert 2 at school and that wasnt good enough a few years ago.

I got the last one done through McArthur Management Services in Adelaide. I think it cost around $50 for both tests ($25 each).

Hey guys,

Im from Aldinga. I remember hearing ages ago that SAFECOM have land down here but I don't think they will be building a MFS station down here in any real hurry. W don't have the problems with day crew that Seaford have had recently. As for rescue I cant see them taking rescue from us, but who knows. We can only hope they don't.
But at the moment sometimes I wonder if they want us to go north anymore at all, there was a job friday morning on Pedler Creek Bridge on south rd and they didn't call us. We weren't fussed but when Seaford defaulted they responded Morphett Vale instead of McLaren Vale or even us. Its a bit of a wonder what boundries they are using in the comms centre

Hey all,

Just curious how many people recieved the severe weather alert at 0130 on Wed. the 1st of Oct. I know all of my brigade got it and its not the nicest thing to do to people who have to get up early in the morning.
If it was a fire call then fair enough, but I mail drop just saying about severe weather at that hour I think is ridiculous!!!

Gee pyro that would really suck, especially after trying for the last like 8yrs.

I think the same about not really wanting to join an organisation like you have stated; but the only reason I want to join the MFS is cause I enjoy helping people when they are in need and they are just making too hard for the everyday person. It kinda makes me think twice about if I really wanna join.

I dont know about not letting you go out to your car to get something, cause when I showed up a guy had left his licence in his car and they let him go get it and come back, which took at least 5mins.

I really think that it is a bit hard to get into, they are very strict which is good in some ways but in others they are prob losing some people that may be excellent for the job.

Thanx for all your reply's guys.

Yeah I tried to contest it and get another go but the board said no, so yeah unfortunately I now have to wait till the next intake.

As for not going to the grass fire the night before it's hard when at night we don't get alot of people show up and when its something serious like a large fire its hard to not go. Like if it was a major MVA I would have gone but if it was a minor like fixed alarm wouldnt have bothered.

Thanx again

I went for my beep test friday, but due to heavy traffic getting to the city I got there like 5mins late and they wouldn't let me in. Wasn't happy considering I was out at a grass fire from 2300 till like 0600 so I thought I did a pretty good effort to get there at all.

Good luck to you all, unfortunately I now have to wait for the next intake next year  :-(

Cadets can usually come to the royal show. Well at least they have in the past.

But from what i heard at the end of last years royal show, the CFS arent doing anything this year. But I am not 100% certain on that, for all I know they may have changed their mind

So no idea what the go is with that, anyone have any info that can help me with that.

SA Firefighter General / Re: Body found in home gutted by bushfire
« on: January 18, 2007, 08:59:36 PM »
I was in the second truck on scene and we attacked the grass fire stopping it burning into a plantation of trees. Didnt even know a house was involved until later on in the incident. I spoke a member who was in a 14 which was the first appliance to get to the house and it had only just started to burn but with a 14 they couldnt do too much i think, not too sure on exact details or anything cause i was anywhere near the house.

Pretty sad though getting caught in your house in a bushfire, not good.

Yes will have to agree it did look alright from what i could see. (which wasnt really much from smokey!!) but yeah did look alright much better than any of the rehearsals.

Yes well done to all

CFS Cadet Corner / Re: Cadet supervision
« on: August 13, 2006, 10:21:31 PM »
No we are not getting a police check done for every person that helps, cause its really just not worth all the trouble if its only for one nite like it is most of the time.
As for getting a police check every year I havent heard that one yet. Either its a new thing that hasnt got to my brigade yet or its something that your brigade its making your members do. I am pretty much second in charge of our cadets and yeah like i say havent heard of that yet.

We have about 8 ppl who help with cadets and we just swap around who gives the training and all the others just help supervise. If we need more help we just ask the brigade if there is anyone who would like to help with training the cadets

19
police can also come and tell the relevant people to decide if they want to stay or go

« on: January 30, 2006, 07:56:55 PM »
I dont think we should complain at all about the food the Salvo's give us. It may not be the best tasting but hey its food and when they have to cater for a few hundred fire fighters they dont really want to be spending heaps of money on expensive food cause they prob have a budget to stick to.
They do a great job and food is food to me.

I think that they only do that when they are recuiting but not too sure. They had one not too long ago when they did the last recuitment

CFS Cadet Corner / Re: what is going on with cadets?

I think that it is good to ask the younger members after if they would like to go and have a look, as for the body been removed i think that the person should b given the option of seeing it if hey want, if you are in a high MVA area then they will c it eventually. If they choose not to go look then that is their choice. I got asked to go have a look at my first fatal and the bodies were there but i didnt, as i felt i wasnt ready to c it, so i think it is up to the person if they want to look b4 or after the body has been removed
