Werent G4 previously Serco?????

Hi Flame Tree's,

Good question, not sure about the answer. Serco rings bells as they are everywhere in hospitality but then again Spotless may have intregrated them. We will have to wait and see if anyone else out there has an answer.

Hi Mr Teddy,

You of course quite correct re G4 considering the balls up in the Uk for Olympics. Mind you they are not that hot here in Australia either. It appears they have more money (from Europe) that they have actual staff members with brains considering everytime they tender something stuffs up in security and dare we mention the very fact that long standing employees are decamping to other patient transport services.

Hi All,
AMT now RFDS will carry the wording 'Mobile Patient Care' on their vehicles and it seem that road staff will be $4000.00 pa better off due to the RDFS being a charity!
MTS now called G4S has won the Royal Melbourne contract from NPT and lost the Bayside contract to NPT.
New CPG's for NEPT due out shortly from DHS.
NEPT contractor crews being trained up to possibly act as 1st responders in the country.
That about is for the moment.

Hi all,

Medical Transport Services in Victoria are fully changing their identification to 'G4'.
RFDS still hasn't released information to what they will be doing with the former (currently owned) Advanced Medical Transport. AMT staff members are in limbo wondering!

St John Ambulance is limbering up becoming a player (they have an advantage as they are covered under a grandfather clause to use ambulance in the short term BUT they would need to change their name if they are going to operate under the NEPT regulations because in Victoria one is not allowed to use the term ambulance.
So SBA is spot on again though I cannot find anything in the St J annual report.

Numpty2012 is spot on with the sale of Advance to RFDS. There are three major players in Victoria and they are NPT, G4S (formerly MTS) and Paramedic Services these companies always had the AV contracts. Another player is Health Select with reportedly 20 vehicles.
St Johns are already part of the AV displan loop as is Red Cross.
SBA, St Johns do not have hundreds of vehicles sitting around. They are first aid trainers and do event work. They may have a couple of new Mader built vehicles in the country (state government money ie displan) and lots of older vehicles but they are not equipped to operate large volumes per AV. Yes they pay RN's to attend events (which is unfair to the volunteers)and have some very well trained doctors and paramedics volunteers as well.

We shall all wait and see because the AV contract/s will not be awarded until next year and only after the state government has made some subtle changes in legislation in favour of AV (again).

Re Victoria Private Services.

It would be big news in Victoria if MTS, NPT, St Johns or RFDS has bought or taken over Advance Medical Transport AMT (www.amtser.com.au). AMT is currently doing bits of AV work and is not known for their attention to detail, ie staffing. They current work out of the Epworth Private hospital charging a ridiculous low fee (to quote: We'll do what it takes to keep this contract). You forget there is two other companies in Victoria presently doing AV work. Outfits known as Health Select and Total Patient Transports (TPT) two very distasteful lots currently do some work for AV and would will quickly fold if they lost it. TPT has secured the Austin Hospital and all it relative area's from MTS under some wonky deal which would read more like nepotism. (Numpty you may be right about the $16.00 trips).

AV is currently seeking outfits to do their work BUT are also outfitting new PTS ambulance which means that they are slowly taking back the work they lost when it was privatised. Of course AV will never ever have total control when you have the likes of MTS and NPT (and don't forget Paramedic Services a long standing AV contractor)doing AV work. Rumour has it that NEPT providers will be doing most code 2 (with possible use of L&S) and Code 3 work, freeing up AV for exclusive emerg calls. Remember the privates are fully equipped to do everything AV can do, plus.

Mr Teddy,

I have to come clean with your forum members, I just cannot take this anymore, I feel
abandoned, lost to the outer worlds of ambulance and the actual intelligence shown by so many. Is this the final moments or should I Come Out and reveal what Flametrees wants. I just do not know. A great Curry can be had at The British India Thali Bar ($22.00), oops did I do a commercial or was that a slip of a trouser leg. Sorry Flametrees I didn't want to get you exited and all that.

I told before what I do but I feel that everyone should know that my partner is an  .

Well Hi there Numpty2012,

"Access Cabs" aren't they taxis?

Yes Eastern states do transport low acuity patients in ambulances because the patient cannot travel in a taxi. There are many reasons why and one need only open their collective eye's.

Yes, they also do charge the same for ambulance transport for the patients that cannot travel in a wheelchair taxi.

I have yet to see a w/c taxi transport a patient who has early post #Noff and possibly #Arm. These patients require a stretcher but not monitoring because they often travel with a family member and a well trained Cert 111 PTO is capable of the transport (as long as the patient is not to heavy to lift). Further if the sending hospital (Rn Dv1, Unit Manager or Dr) deems it appropiate and safe to do so then so be it. It is always what the hospital want and demands, it is not about money, safe patient transport is the name of game if you like.

Taxi's come and go in and out of all places, can be hailed off the street whereas ambulance transport is nothing likke a taxi so if you think that YOU could send all low acuity patients in a taxi, you have rocks in your head, literally. And blonde is not an excuse!

Something SA ambo's have got to understand. One is that the people who man the private ambulances are just as qualified as you if not more qualified and Second, is that the company who employs ambulance staff does so with within hiring strict guidelines.

The answer is not,

The reason the AEA is so hot on the topic of " profit focus rather than patient care driven" tehe SAAS is taxpayer owned as is SAAS staff. .

I am of the understanding that the SA regulations pertaining to Restricted Ambulance licenses clearly states that private services must employ qaulified personnel on all ambulance vehicles. If this is so and a private outfit did not, it would not be surprising that their operations would suffer. However, this does not mean that all private services are required to operate 2 up crews so a single operator (PTO) for walker/wheelchair low aquity should suffice.  Even ambulance services operate single operators in their clinic divisions.

What I cannot get a handle on is the bitching that is going on in this forum (Note, Forum. Alright I am blonde and might not be the brightest in these matters but really guys get a hold of yourselfs and work alongside the privates, because they will work with you, anytime.

Why hang around if for other reason when you get scheiße on by wannabee's out there masquerading as ambo's in SAAS.

Come on, wake up to the simple fact that the private sector is going to happen in SA and while SAAS is using same they will grow.
Open your eye's and wake up to your own misgivings in this industry.

Oh, and by the way, the privates pay their own way (education etc) to do the job they do where-as many wannabee members on this site have been paid for by the taxpayer, who incidently has no say.

Hello Mister Teddy,

My apologies to Shoes1970 and the forum as I was not meaning to demeans any member with any perceived vitriol. I just stated the obvious, that being there are knockers out there who make comment without first enquiring. You asked and perhaps others should have also.
Anyway in answer to you original question; I cannot give any direct answer as I was informed in passing from a Sth Australian Ambo.

My business is not of any consequence but for you readers I am simply a removalist.

Hello fellow Forum Users,

Further to the above reply I would like to add the following items.

My business occurs at the very end of life. I work in the funeral industry and many professionals would have passed  by me many times with not a blink of the eye. I do my job as professionally as do ambo's and firies and was a former Jack (SJA) 4 years (not in SA). I also hold the necessary and appropriate qualifications in ambulance studies.

Regards
Kellyp

Hello Shoes 1970,

It appears you have no faith in anything that could possibly a service you cannot undertake. There are many an old 1970 'Jacks' crew members and quasi members who distrust anything new.
Have a look at IMS, they are doing it right, so what did you want to say about them 'Flybynighters Perhaps'. Get a life sunshine or just grow up.

A new licensed private provider will be looking for experienced ambo's and amb nurses with uni quals with on road exp.

Apparently, they will be seeking to appoint co-director/partners experienced in amb ops to operate the service in SA.

Will keep an eye out for this one for sure.

Hello again,

About the use of disposable paper sheets in ambulance.

Yes, a cost saving is made when using disposable linen. One must be reminded that not all disposable linen is as thin and loose as toilet paper. Specialist disposables are purpose designed and that is why they used in ambulances worldwide. Its no point getting on your high horse and using silly quotes because your pockets are full. Remember, underneath disposables, in many cases, are standard linen products. It is easier to wipe the bum of Nanna with the disposable sheet and place in soiled bin receptacle rather than use the linen sheet. Yes it is about savings and there is no suggestion that hygiene requirements is not maintained in every case when using disposable products in ambulance. Syringes, Oxygen masks and just about everything in ambulance today is disposable. How many mum's have Never used used disposable nappies for our little tackkers bums.
