SA Firefighter General / Re: DENR
« on: March 09, 2012, 07:00:14 PM »
Heard a big piece of news this morning that DENR staff were advised there would be staff cuts of 25% in 2 weeks.

All seasonal contracts will be cancelled, and redundancies done for permanent staff.

Could have some big implications for the CFS.

What implications would they be ?

SA Firefighter General / Re: Retrofitted cab deluge system
« on: March 05, 2012, 03:21:41 PM »
Have u tested that personally baggy? I would rather be crammed in a single cab with a deluge than on the back with a couple sidelines hoping for the best

doesnt a correctly done SMD 1 have the same outcome as a halo system on a single cab appliance.

Good luck cramming 6 personnel in a single cab and all be down as close to the floor as possible

End of the day good luck to the brigade for having a source of funding and this being the way the brigade chose to spend it.

Just because i dont agree with it doesnt make it wrong  :-)

Meh personally what a waste of money on a single cab appliance..

Is it still a waste of money of it saves a life (or 6)?

If SMD 1 is performed correctly the halo system isn't needed...

5 responses in FY 10/11 I think might be the reason Pump mentioned it...I'm hoping that the use of the term " new" is relative and just means one they didnt have last week. If in fact it refers to a brand spanker..... then its time for a vote of no confidence in the people involved in the process

Good luck with that..

Looking on the CFS incidents list there appears to be 3-4 fires burning in the north of SA

Anyone have info on any CFS involvement in these or are they nothing much to be concerned about?

I get the feeling these problems are mostly effecting region 1 and part region 2 as the brigades are soooo close. Doesn't seem to be a problem as the distances to respond get greater as the second alarm response is what is required anyway.

Obviously the future is going to hinge hugely on $$$$ I'm really not sure where it is going to go!
