where has your community spiret gone??? what is wrong with helping a older person change a battery in a smoke alarm??? and hey what great PR for your brigade, its  very said in this day and age that SA has not taken on some good IDEAS from other interstate fire brigades who each year are involved in in stalling smoke alarms into peoples homes with a joint program by the lions or local service club. they also help with changing smoke alarm battery's and at the same time help with providing information on fire safety..Time we became more community involved rather than sit on a fence......

It would be a step backwards into the dark age, once we go to a fully SAFECOM cad system you will see better information flow as all call takers will have to follow a set of guildlines/sops as is the case in other state CAD centres.....Don't knock it till its given a go sure there will be a few teathing problems and these will be ironed out.remember the CAD system is only as good as the information that brigade's and groups supply when they attend information nights and fill in the paperwork.....

SAMFS / Re: MFS Comm Cen

Would like to see all call taking and dispatch done by SAFECOM like the CFA have with VICFIRE,that way with a set of good SOPS and service guidelines things will run alot more smoothly. There would be no them and us but rather a group of dedicated call takers who are independent to the service but are still working for the government...Hope this happens would not mind a job in COMMS....

All Equipment discussion / Re: Fire bombers
« on: October 23, 2006, 07:46:57 AM »
I think you may see a drop in the use of bombers in some areas over the next few years due to the area not having any water and the time it takes to bring water into areas for use by the bombers will mean that a good running fire will turn into a better running fire... May have to use more mixing plants......

It is true that we do come across some information that should not be sent over the radio and its true that we see things that we really don't want to.Most work places make you sign a confidentiality agreement as do sites that people may work on like any Government work place. So may be its time all new and old cfs members did.....

Why not pick up the mobile phone in your appliance?

698
Ath,it does happen but most brigades have a rule if they are paged for a job return to station normal road conditions(no light/siren)unload the kids and yourself...

if H/Q is not willing to help the good people at the salvo's why cant groups when they do there budget put a section in for catering for the local salvo's who would do the work if there was no CFS brigade axillary..

OHS is killing all the fun with in the CFS,OHS is only used when people feel like using it or when they having nothing else to say... I can understand that we need to get more bums on the appliance seat but really who sits in the white tower and makes these rules needs to get out from behind the desk and see what members really do. What is the harm of taking the public for a look over the whole appliance??? what is the harm of taking part in the local town Xmas parade with brigade members on that appliance?? what is wrong with taking your kids with you when you do a 30km weekly run???? and by the way who is going to tell the paid staff sorry you cant take your kids to and from school in the staff car as your not CFS members..... So why is it that when brigades/groups want to run a recruitment campain there is no money??? to help you out sorry...Well sorry is just not good enough and its time someone put there hand up and said where all the money is........
