Rescue5271 - MFS pumps are not allowed to respond to jobs with three people on board, if a firey is sick or unable to work then they will recall another person and take that truck offline until they have a full compliment. A couple of fireys are rostered on each shift to fill in the gaps and ensure they have a full compliment.

If there are trucks getting around with three on board I think the Union would hit the roof, maybe you saw one of the training trucks getting around at the moment with the new recruits.

Depends on the appliance... there are 4 per crew on pumps and the heavy rescue... 2 on HAZMAT/BA and aerial, not sure but i think that the skyjets are 4 per crew.... 2 per ROSA?

Medevac, the ROSA normally responds with one, if it's the CBR truck from HQ it normally goes with just the on-call CBR officer. The ROSA at Largs North is driven by the Marine Officer. Skyjets are crewed with four.

Getting back on topic - it seems that the situation hasn't really improved much.

I have seen some shitty response times from SAAS lately with this one occuring this afternoon.

Ambos despatched this job as having persons trapped and responded three of their own cars but for some reason waited until the first Ambo arrived and specifically requested 'Firies' before responding any fire service (as it turns out there was no one trapped).

This is just plain sloppy work by them  :x

CFS Rescue trucks going into MFS areas need to have a minimum crew of rescue trained personel. Any other trucks going into MFS area have to have at least two BA crew, as per the EMA agreement.

Andrew while you're at it why not setup a forum like this one for the SES as well, It's pretty straight forward to get going and I'm sure they would have just as much stuff to chat about as us.

Completely off topic, but in the CFS do we say "strike out a third alarm" or "upgrade to a third alarm"?  people seem to say 'strike out' a lot here, but I've never heard it over the radio...

Generally CFS use "Upgrade to a second alarm". MFS and the crankier CFS brigades like to use "Transmit second alarm" and the real cranks use "Transmit the box".

"Strike out a third alarm" would be from the FDNY - I challenge someone to use that one on the GRN.

I believe it is the old 'Stirling North 34' rego WDO503.

It is currently being refurbished at Hillier crash and then sent to Kalangadoo.

I believe it is being followed up. Hopefully the Workplace services investigation will also reveal the deficiency.

Bizarre behaviour, I would have thought that if the tree was already down then it isn't going anywhere and priority 2 would be fine.

I know the SES out here respond P2 to nearly all tree down jobs, why is it different for some units and not others. Having said that I know of a CFS brigade nearby that responded at least one truck priority one to a tree down job about a week or so ago, interestingly the SES were responding P2.

Well it might be working well in some areas but out here things aren't so smooth. It seems that when a road roller fell over the other day on top of a person the first and only response was of the SES who were about 20 km's away.

This might not seem strange until you realise that there was one CFS rescue brigade about 2 mins away, another about 5 minutes away and a third about 10 minutes away. None of those resourcs were responded until some 20 minutes after the initial SES response, unfortunately by the time we arrived the patient was DOA - and no SES on scene yet.

One really has to ask the question why the closest rescue (resource isn't being responded to rescue incidents ? Have the SES changed the MFS database and removed CFS from some rescue calls or was this simply a one of stuff up.  :-(

Thanks Matt, I am in a CFS brigade and we have not seen it yet, hopefully it makes it's way into our trucks.

ALL Rescue / Undeployed Airbag tape
« on: April 24, 2006, 09:50:12 PM »
Does anyone know if anyone sells the 'Caution Undeployed Airbag' tape that MFS carry. I don't think it's standard issue but it probably should be.
