The CFS media announcements on the website now state "...Stay tuned to your Local Radio Station or Local ABC Radio on a battery-powered radio for more information about bushfires in your area.."

Maybe the radio actually has to be battery powered to hear it? :-D

We did about 40 structure related jobs and we far from qualify for a pumper even with all the risk in our area, figure that out :?

Guys,

Both Hahndorf pumper and Mt Barker pumper (which will be rescue) are at NE Isuzu ready to go.
Has the type 2 replacement for Barker 24P been brought forward? I thoought it was still 18 months away?

Are you sure?

Nothing against Hahndorf, but wouldn't have thought that a new type 2 pumper for their brigade would have been justifiable.  Why not replace their old pumper with a 24P like every other brigade out there?

Have heard that it is the only appliance that will fit in their station as the main street of Hahndorf is heritage listed and the station cant be altered.

SA Firefighter General / Service Level Agreement
« on: December 10, 2005, 02:23:23 PM »
Upon browsing the new Volunteer mag i came across and article where it states the CFS is currently negotiating a "service level agreement" with the MFS. Does anyone have any info on this and how will it affect CFS brigades if at all? ie will they be responding less or more into CFS areas.

I understand all SES call receipt and dispatch operations are being handed over to MFS for the day to day stuff in a couple of months time.

Any reason why?

Wasn't the bute fire only 2 hectares... ??

various reports put it anywhere between 100 - 150 hectares. Does any one know of the size of the fire at hawker around the same time?

Just curious as to what athelstone 34p with be replacing their 24p or 34??

I believe it is their 34 that is getting replaced. Not sure how they work out who gets what but i thought there would be other brigades out there with higher risks who would possibly need 2 "P" appliances.

A few new 34P's at NE Isuzu almost ready for delivery. They include Belair, Athelstone, Birdwood and Crystal Brook. Must nearly be the end of this years lot.

Was talking to a DGO from another group in region five and he said its true we are not allowed on the roof of anything over 1.4 meters.
I reckon it would be near 1.4 metres high to get into the cab of our new 34, might not be able to get in without a harness anymore.

All B.A wearers would be in PBI Gold if a one off grant was enabled to fund a set for every B.A member....  But we are the CFS not the MFS....    :-(
makes you wonder why the MFS would need a grant to buy it? Maybe one of the members of the MFS on here could answer?
