SA Firefighter General / Re: GRN pager site

is that picking up MFS MDT messages too?
You might find some MFS run on GRN pagers as well, Oakden being one station that does and the district officers as well, plus the retained stations.

I believe that the the 34P has a 'tank fill' inlet on the passengers side near the rear wheels.

couple of people in operation mercury pics wearing PBI at QEH drill....

obviously just plainly ignoring the fact taht they have been told not to wear it to anything other than structure fires....?
Probably depends on which brigade you belong to to what you can get away with :?

As in work lighting? only 2 spotlights either side and one pump worklight and some rear deck lighting.

Also, don't know if any of you have been in the latest Isuzu 4x4's but they are a looooooooooooong way up, so CFS OH&S might have an issue with you getting in and out of that truck with BA on. She ain't the Volvo James!
Thats what the carbon fibre cylinders are for.  :-D

Its the typical CFS thing, we won't give you the trucks you need because the red truck can do it for you, and trust me, I have been told that to my face. But when we try the arguement in reverse, we are told "we are not here to prop up the MFS" Go figure!!

And aint that the truth! :-)

We've used ours a few times, seems ok (for a rural appliance). 60 metre hoses come in handy, wanders a litle bit on the road though, might need a bit more weight on it

MFS usually page direct, but on a few occasions we have been paged by SHQ, depending on how busy it is in their comms.

I think you were responded cause we got a couple of calls after all of our appliances were committed to the fire(pity you didnt get any jobs while you were there!) Was appreciated though to know someone was covering our area.

Back on to the station stats topic, how are peoples call rates going so far? Below, same or above last year at this stage of the year?

Do you think the CFS might go this way in the future ?

Probably not, the CFS tends to rely on the red trucks in urban brigade areas so they dont have to justify urban appliances

must admit i reckon they need 1 more locker as space is a bit limited, but the moveable shelving is a good idea

Does anyone know if the new 34's come with the very nice BA racks like those in the new 34P's?
Nope just the fold down ones like the early 24P's

Tell that to Roseworthy who has a tiny population and then has the college, glass factory and alike - risk has nothing to do with population.

The college is actually in Mudla Wirras area which is based on the campus grounds, so that wouldnt really count as a risk to Roseworthy, be a bit like Salisbury claiming GMH was a risk to them cause its only across the road but in MFS area

How about Tanunda has very healthy CFS brigade and SAMFS retained and only a few thousand people.
Not to mention the MFS up there gets as much money allocated to them as the whole of the Angaston Group

There's a working party looking into everything, soon there will be a working party looking into working party's.
but do these working parties really work?

99% of the time we will get a 19 on the end of the page from MFS eg 9119, but on the odd occasion we will get a 9124 (even though we dont have a 24) or a 9142. I think it just depends on whos on and if they feel like changing it. A few more Brigades that MFS comms page are Two Wells = 22224, Kadina = 28819 and Bordertown, Starts with 58 - cant remember the rest

Anyway after driving one they seem a bit 'floaty'. They tend to move around a bit on the road. Dont know if this is due to the height or weight distribution.

If you were on the back why would you have to access the sidelines? there are 3 on the workdeck to use.
