some interesting reading.

Confused by this

Quote
The Adelaide Fire operator will take the appliance “out of service”
for 60 minutes and then notify the CFS Regional Coordinator of the
default and “out of service status”.

The 60 minute timer on SACAD triggers the Adelaide Fire operator to
call the CFS Regional Coordinator to advise the appliance/s is still
out of service (and unable to respond to any other incidents) and they
will remain out of service until Adelaide Fire is advised otherwise.

Is it saying that the 60min default is not automatically reset to available and that we need to advise AF that we can be undefaulted?

Also the bit about 14's not being responded except if is the only resource or a customised response plans exist could prove interesting

Prob since the group manages once the job is running and with sacad not being deployed to the groups, yet? prob not of much use.

it's hard enough getting through to AF during multiple incidents to ack mobile.

thats 28th of Nov

From coac minutes is mentions some issues with that came about during testing and operational bulletin on using sacad that is in draft.

Better they fix the problems now they when live.  Too many projects go live with she'll be right, we can fix that while in production.

Though the bit about getting the how to use bit before go live could be handy ;)

The quiet seasons would be one of the reason why training and new recruits would be down.

I wonder how many of those 400 are from brigades shedding their memberships of old members to ensure quorum with the new constitution.

They don't mention the people getting jack of the politics and the accountability being push down to the senior officers.

The rumblings I hear around our group is people aren't willing to loose their whole weekend.

That and maybe the lack of summer calls, some may have lost some interest (temporarily hopefully).

Also when they are screaming out for numbers is that coz a bunch of people pulled out last minute, or are they not asking neighbouring groups at all or early enough to fill the spots.

Country Fire Service / Re: Use of fire sirens
« on: April 17, 2011, 08:34:51 PM »
Ive probly said it before, but there is no need for sirens fullstop.
...
Station sirens are NOT an official means of notifying the community of significant events. This is why we have EWMs and WAMs.

Agree that it shouldn't be used for turn out, but we use purely for fires in the immediate area only.  It's not an official means, but any additional means of notification should not be discounted.  EWMs are only useful if people are listening to the radio stations that broadcast them, or get a phone call/sms from the new system.

If it is used sparingly, then when it goes of people will make an effort to see why.  If it goes off for everything RCR or tree down then people will become compliance.

I would have been interested in watching that episode. Do you know the name of the TV show ?

Super Factories: Fire Trucks

US call it ultimate factories

I can't find any legit watch online sites for it, Nat Geo's Tv site only has 10mins of it.

If you're not watching 7Mate, your missing out on a doco about one of the us fire truck builders.

Might be on the catchup section of channel 7's website tomorrow.

Though like most of the stuff on these channels it's prob 10yrs old and you've prob already seen it.

Can someone please upload or email the AIRS Reference Sheet and Written version reffered to in Yvettes memo...
Thanks.

Attached.

Did my first one last night.  Wasn't too bad.  Though the reference page refers to it just as mobile property, but it's actually mobile property fire.  RCR is on the next page :D

Country Fire Service / Re: New AIR'S Reporting forms
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:29:43 AM »
We got them last week.

Also don't forget that you need a grid reference for each job. Be aware though that the section that you are meant to put the 13 digit grid reference in only has space for 6 figures - easily rectified though.

We were told last night just to use 6 figures.

God help you if you can't fill out 8 pages. AIRS forms aren't hard to fill out, they don't take that long do they? Drop down boxes are hard to use though...

Forms aren't hard to fill in, but it's the time taken which was of concern for our group.  What is likely to happen is people won't fill them in properly meaning garbage in and garbage out.

Have the CFS actually started to take note of things like the type and use of building/vehicle, location of detectors, type of detectors, ignition source etc etc?

Pretty sure that guff is now on the forms.  Region were saying that info will be used so that if if the same detector keeps trigging them increased callouts and fines can start to be applied.  Assuming this is why mfs collects this info.

If there is a benefit for the cfs and the community for collecting additional info then all good, but if it's just doing it coz someone else is doing it, then why bother.

There is also legal issues where this info might cover your arse :D

It needs to be given a chance.  People don't like change, but such is life.

SASES / Re: River Murray flood in Vic, will it reach the mouth ?
« on: January 24, 2011, 03:20:15 PM »
The guy that setup the flowrate thingo was on 5aa this morning.  as above the flows in 56 were much higher.

Being in drought for however long, means there is a plenty of empty storage in the system. What he did go onto say was that if there was another significant rain event 56 levels are more likely.

Can't remember the time lines, but the peak is expected in 21days, but don't quote me I wasn't totally listening :D

There is some pretty impressive flow rates further up stream.
