Teddy have you formalised your feelings into action with the CFSVA or....... not yet!
I know that the article was significantly cut short by editorial pressures and Wendys full views were not published!
If your not happy attend a CFSVA general meeting and be heard, I know its not as much fun as posting on here, but you stand a much better chance of achieving something.

Cheers Jaff

You cannot nominate from the website, you need to go throught the chain of command i.e. BTC, GTC, RTO. From experice of preforming all of these role at times that any breakdown in communication will result in people missing out on oppertunities. I know I have certainly asked down the chain for nominations for the courses you are after Alex without any luck. Use the website to find spaces and then hammer your BTC, GTC to get your nomination to region. Your nomination should appear in your members profile once it reaches Region, even if you are not allocated to a course i.e. Pending. Also if you do get on a course and things change let the region/STC know straight away to allow more time to refill the place.

Pffft......Mate, what would you know anyway!!!

Sorry should of mentioned 2b states that helmet chin straps may need to be tightened on structural helmets, before "rapid extraction is attempted"

SA Firefighter General / Re: What would you tell the new CO
« on: March 10, 2011, 03:04:28 PM »
I would like the pay scales of career CFS staff to be inline with their interstate coleauges, without it we are constantly loosing the best staff interstate and ending up with dissatisfied, unmotivated paid emergency service personel.
I would also recommend that a bit of the dead wood be cleaned out.....like yesterday!

Cheers Jaff

Not sure I follow your logic Alex, CFS vollies investigate bushfires, crop fires and the like, these can and do at times also affect structures, any of these things can have insurance liabilities.
As for accountability, all investigations are logged and documented with due dilligence, accreditation isn't nor should it be a a doddle!

SA Firefighter General / Re: CFS using K-codes
« on: February 15, 2011, 11:12:46 AM »
When I was with an EMA brigade, I used K Codes just to annoy people who jump up and down on this forum quoting the SOP,s. The fact is nobody really gives a rat's. Use them or don't use them. Ad fire certainly couldnt care less. It doesn't matter. The only people who care are those listening to their scanners who have nothing to do with the job. Go and mow your lawns people or count your coin collection. It would have been time better spent than arguing about nothing. :-) :-( :-D

I agree Bonny,  In fact I agree that much I might start giving arrival messages in Mandarin Chinese!...and when people complain....Ill just tell em "tfuu kingfra isht"...who cares what the SOPs are I , I make my own rules....so there!

SA Firefighter General / CFS using K-codes
« on: January 24, 2011, 09:17:03 AM »
One very important "K" code for CFS,and it's normally is an inclusive one....such as "OH NO were ---K-- now", or "the fire has jumped the ---K--- track", this style of "K" code although not accepted by the management has been in use by volunteers for years.
Upon hearing of this "K" code it is universally understood that fire activity has elevated, or something out of the ordinary has occured and requires urgent attention!

Happy to help! JAFF

What about those GO's and DGO's who's SMD#1 has expired but they are still operating on the fireground? Does someone up the tree cross check the AIRS listed personel against SMD#1 accreditation in TAS?

Perhaps they could make up the big % of personnel that dont achieve their accreditation every year!, but I doubt it!
