There was a segment on seven news on the amount of turnouts the MFS are having to the remand centre.
Apparently, no prisoners are being punished and a solution to correct the problem is that next week they're going to move smoke alarms to different locations
-
Ironically, as this segment was on, they responded to an alarm at the remand centre
-
Classic, dont know why they just swap the smoke alarms for thermals.....
-
A solution to the problem would be to ban smoking. Other government buildings have no smoking so why does the Remand Centre have to be different :?

Its a VESDA system.
-
OK , Ye right ban smoking then there would be riots in all Jails.....
-
The issue lies in the design of the vesda system itself, more specifically the layout of the piping, the sensors sensitivites. Also the system has a day, night and workman settings which the detainees know. Thus the call outs at night.
Due to the size of the building, more specifically the open area in the middle the vesda is mandatory due to the high rate of air flow.

Apparrently they allow them to smoke to relieve stress. I mean honestly, they deserve to be stressed, they're in their for a reason
