Definitely recommend it, its basically a high definition camera, it came with a case, lanyard, spare battery and charger. we also got the optional hand grip which has a laser pointer in it which is very handy..
Because we couldnt tag onto a bulk order i believe we paid 11-12k for it.

If you want a look at one your more than welcome to come down here otherwise i know region has one kicking around that is the same model.

Did you end up winning the grant mengcfs?

Not only did they win it but i also believe through another scheme they actually won the funding for a second one for their group..

On a side note we also purchased the Infrasys E380 for our brigade, an amazing bit of kit, great camera.

Country Fire Service / Re: crew numbers and jobs per year
« on: April 21, 2013, 08:35:07 PM »
We have 19 active members, on track for about 160 calls this year, with an average of 8 members turning out for each call.
We usually run a yearly recruiting drive at the local shopping centre, some years we get quite a few interested sometimes not as much interest.  Out of the interested ones we usually only get a few that are really keen.

How's the no depletion rule meant to work for a single truck incident type? Sounds like an upgrade through the relevant channels is more appropriate than a "cut and paste" page

Country Fire Service / Re: Stirling HAZMAT
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:20:56 AM »
IS there a need for HAZMAT at Stirling or Bridgewater??

With Oakbank, Burnside reasonably close by, MFS slightly further out than Burnside, Eden Hills further over, and  Strathalbyn 40k away, surely that is plenty of cover for incidents within that area?

32
A tad dodgy calling a strike team from a group that only just arrived home an hour before hand, there are plenty of other groups out there they could have used..

33
Unless the job is for a specialist resource such as RCR or Hazmat etc then SACAD will pick the truck that has been K5 the longest, if its a rural fire and you have a 34P and a 24 and the 34P has been "online" the longest then that truck is the one that will be picked..
Hence why brigades definitely should be taking the appliance they deem appropriate UNLESS that resource has been specifically requested for the job.

I think this is pretty much correct but am happy to be proven otherwise. anyone from AF care to add or change the above??

Thanks Pip will have to get our capt to keep a look out for any changes down this way.  We just want to keep all 6 of our BA sets which shouldnt be too hard with the Urban risks we have in our area.

Tbh Alex i have no idea, i havent heard if they have had a look down this way yet or not, knowing our luck probably not. How would a brigade find out if their SFEC's have been changed??

Would be nice to see some form of upgraded Urban RCR appliance down this way, but apparently we are stuck with the 24P for another 8 years yet.

The pumper is going to Naracoorte.

My guess for the rescue is Waikerie.

The BWC Pod would be for STrathalbyn.

SAAS / Re: SAAS MDT's

they are inbuilt into the dashboard on a roughly 9inch or so square screen, they are also hooked into streetfinder GPS for the driver.  Unsure what they run on.

SA Firefighter General / Re: Delays Between Emergency Services
« on: February 21, 2013, 07:40:50 PM »
On this, yesterday, we were about to start Cadet training, when one of the parents notified us of a crash that'd just happened up the road (were told car A crashed into car B at around 100km/h). So we decided to wait around just in case we were called to it, we heard SAAS turn up (If I'm correct around 4 Ambo's turned up).
Neither us, nor Aldinga (RCR) were called at all.

You had a car accident reported to you, and you failed to take any action?
Interesting in itself.

I agree, if we had someone report to us that there had been a VA down the road at that speed i wouldnt have hesitated responding to investigate, if you arent required on arrival so be it, but if you are then you probably just saved yourself a good deal of time waiting to be called.

I believe intercad wil be coming online her very soon which will hopefully help things, but yes delays for jobs here in SA seem to happen all too often.

They asked the IC of the job if they were required for assistance and they were asked to respond so they did..
Why should they get in the filtered?

SAMFS / Re: New MFS station for Salisbury
« on: February 08, 2013, 09:02:18 AM »

Also, I think it's pretty sad that some go knocking on fire station doors (both here and in other countries), to have a look inside and to have a chat with the firefighters .......  :?.

You have got to be kidding right??
That is possibly the most stupid and narrow minded comments of late?

Why not do it?

When i was in Germany last year i went and visited the local volunteer station for a look, had a great chat to one of their firies there, and it was good to learn the differences between the services for both of us..

So i am guessing if you were given the chance to go on the truck to a few jobs with another service elswhere in the world you would knock it back because it was "pretty sad"???

Obviously for someone as narrow minded as yourself you have no interest to learn anything outside of what u already know so i guess it wouldnt be for you.

At least MFS are being responded to them because it seems Virginia want nothing to do with them unless they are a "proper" job.  I know we are a vollie organisation but if its in your area you should still be dealing with these calls and if you cant then maybe its time to give it up?
Ummm...what are you basing that on?? The amount of stop calls that are issued? This is because MFS get there, and determine there is no need for extra trucks.

I base that on listening to virginia duty officer talking to mfs appliances saying we will not be attending this job unless you want to upgrade the job and this is before anyone arrives on scene, and multiple times at that.

not a touchy subject at all, it aplies to anything anyone says on here, if you are going to have a dig about brigades not clearing with AF (or anything for that matter) then make sure your information is correct..
As said they were still at the job if its 1.5hrs later so be it that makes no difference they were still at the job.

17:44:30   20-12-12   PLEASE ADVISE IF CLEAR OF INC 0047 - CFS Mundoo Group Officers Response

I thought every one would have this down pat by now. One more thing A/F don't need to do.
Brigade's should be on top of this by now.

Btw first response, the above brigade hadnt cleared the incident they had the alarm reactivate and were still in attendance when this page was sent. Thanks.

Plus State Hazmat at Burnside, not quite sure why a Hazmat Pod is needed there when Burnside isnt that far away?

Good idea, but just alot of resources in such a small area.

Having missed this job i dont know the circumstances but if indeed our brigade did fail to clear this job it would be the very first time out of 150+ jobs since sacad came online.

Also it is quite possible they were still on scene at the job??

Read the whole message before leaving for the station, gets annoying when people come into the station asking what the job is.
