Gday,
What books do people have that are fire related? Non Fiction or Fiction
All i got is "tried by fire" - History of the CFS.
Just purchased a book called "3000 degrees" from the states. About a fire company (think FDNY) who battled a warehouse fire.

Negative, 3000 Degreeds AKA Fire Trap is about the Worcester Fire Department and the WOrcester Cold Storage fire. Some nasty stuff went down there.

Yeah, true story based on Worcester. Very very sad day for that department. It's an excellent read, I think you will enjoy it.

Yeah well if you read the new bushfire book that is out. It outlines the fact that one of the fires that originated in NSW and ended up in Canberra was a several KM hike in to put out.

Burn by Peter Collins
This book reflects on the big fires in Australia such as Black Thursday,Black Friday,Ash Wednesday as well as the Canberra fires and Victorian Alpine fires and other large scale fires
It also tells of the Royal Commission into the 1939 Black Friday fires and explains how the inquiry & commission was run..... its interesting to note through the course of reading this book it turns out the 1939 Black Friday Royal Commission didnt stay in one place the panel went to each town affected
So its worth a read :wink:

Excellent read....My lady gave Me a copy for Xmas...
We were in Canberra last October and 3 years on and still no regrowth of vegetation..especially around Mt Stromlo Observatory

just finished reading 3000 degrees.
Really good book for any firefighter....certainly opens your eyes.
All i can say is make sure you have a guideline!

I'm finding Burn by Paul Collins a bit tedious so far. It is an historians account of bush fire in Australia after delving into old newspapers and reports. Someone tell me it gets better....

i've read 3000 degrees and tried by fire and i own the one written by tom von essen, chief of FDNY during 9/11. That book was a good read but dragged on a little.
