SA Firefighter General / Worst Part Of The Fire Season Still To Come
« on: January 24, 2006, 01:42:35 PM »
Hi there everyone it's Robert here.... now i know we have seen a few bad fires happen so far this season but from what i read in The Border Watch today there are more testing times ahead in the next few months according to the Country Fire Service

The Ngarkat,Spalding and Murray Bridge fires are tastes of whats yet to come as a fire fighter from my brigade who recently retired from the CFS has told me that the big one like Black Tuesday,Ash Wednesday and Black Sunday is going to happen sometime this season quite possibly in Feburary at the peak of the fire season

If this prediction is true im going to stay behind and defend my home even though theres a chance i might be pulled away from home to respond in a Strike Team

Either way i have the important obligation as a Volunteer Firey to protect Life and Property

Place test posts here / Test post before being posted for real

I have found out that between my parents and myself all three of us have clocked up a total for 43 years service with the SA Country Fire Service and yet the "brown noser" members of our brigade dont seem to respect me or my family's 43 year milestone, as im still getting treated as a piece of trash being the youngest member to have clocked 10 years has annoyed these bad apple members

If the brigade does fold it will recover and ill make sure that happens as i will do everything possible

SA Firefighter General / Fire & Rescue Computer Games
« on: December 18, 2005, 07:15:49 PM »
Hiya everyone it Robert here again with my second thread and this one might sound alot more interesting  :-)

A couple of years ago i had a computer game which involved structual fire fighting and rescue it involved going into a burning building doing search and rescue of trapped occupants then fire control after all occupants were rescued

Today whilst cruising the internet i found a computer games website
based here in australia that sells PC games and by chance found a fire fighting game exactly similar to the one i had but it's more of an up model one

It would be good if the Country Fire Service designed a computer game for recruits so they can learn how to combat grass and plantation fires as well as extricate casualties from a crashed car before doing the real thing

Thats a computer game i would buy  :-D

SA Firefighter General / Problems recruiting new CFS members
« on: December 13, 2005, 07:42:40 AM »
Hiya everyone it's Robert here i know this is my very first post ever on the site so i am gonna make the best of it

Over the last few years my brigade Kalangadoo CFS has been having trouble getting new members into the brigade because the community doesnt seem to care about the CFS here

After my father suggested shock tactics by inviting the whole community to and showing 2 videos about fires such as Ash Wednesday and Eyre Peninsula in a bid to get more people to sign up, however this type of thing never happened because it was deemed inapproriate by the Group who instead opted for flyers to be posted

We did get a couple of new volunteers but they were the wrong type of people if you know what i mean because they think are better than the current members

Give me your opinion or advice on how small town brigades like Kalangadoo can get more volunteers
