The new CFS website has been 'soft launched' this afternoon by SAFECOM. This is ahead of all four websites being officially launched mid-November. Any feedback on the website is requested via the form at the end of the 'Contact Us' section.
The email I received is:
"Colleagues
The CFS has today gone live with their new-look internet site, the first of the sector’s revamped sites to be released for public viewing.
A sector-wide project team has been working extremely hard over the past few months to redesign the way we present information to the public via the internet and transferring all the data to the new content management system.
The new sites of the CFS, MFS, SES, and SAFECOM will have a common look and feel whilst still retaining the individual identity and branding of each agency, and will have common menu structures to help with searching for information.
Whilst the look and feel will remain fairly constant, a range of enhancements are already planned to further improve the functionality and will be added over time.
The CFS site has gone live this afternoon with a ‘soft launch’ and the next two weeks will be used as a final testing period to iron out any bugs and put the final touches to the site ahead of a more public launch of all four sites jointly in mid November.
The community will benefit from the additional information available from the site including real time updates from CRIIMSON showing Current Incidents.
Community information is one of the six priorities in the sector’s new Strategic Direction and this project is going to be a key initiative in helping to improve the way we communicate with our stakeholders and the community.
I encourage you all to take the opportunity to have a look at the new site at www.cfs.sa.gov.au and provide feedback via the feedback form at the end of the Contact Us so that we can make any final adjustments before the other sites go live and are publicly launched.

6 Years later PARTY TIME! Welcome to the 21st Century.
edit: seemed they only decided to use Pre 2003 website coding and design methods...so not a huge leap.

I hope they do some editing very soon. Multiple pages are still very messy, menus overlapping and the like.
Good work, whoever let their 15 year old build it!

I guess I'm going to wait and see how it goes for a few weeks, see what bugs they've ironed out and how they go with current incidents and the details they provide (I kinda like the cfa site with the fire details but have only had a quick look at that one as well)
Some things about it's appearance I find kinda irritating but will have to wait and see

I just hope they kept it simple so that the great many CFS members &
country people still on dial-up or pay-per-megabyte mobile data contracts
can actually use it. (Can't tell now that I'm on ADSL).
On the plus side, it has moved a great deal of stuff under logical headings.
It has improved & expanded on the planning & preparing pages.
Could use more pics (or better still, thumbnail links to pics) for those who
can't handle reading a book if it doesn't have pictures...
I see the internal documentation has been pulled - SOPs, FGPs, Policies,
Manuals, etc. Hopefully the 'sealed centre section' will be up & running soon &
we'll be able to access this info on-line. People can't "just nip round to the
station" any more when they need/want to look something up in a hurry.

MMMMMMM, looks ok but why did they remove information like regional training list and STC training list?? Will see how up to date it is when the brown stuff hits the fan on a very busy day....

Anyone know what the after-hours process is to make your job go from "Going"
to "long dead & buried" ?
As far as I know, the form was faxed in hours ago (could be wrong - most brigade
members are seriously allergic to paperwork unless it's on a roll in the loo)

We make all incidents complete awaiting fire report, the normally dissapear at midnight unless we have been asked to keep them open.

I have had a few people in the community say it looks good and is well updated and at last they can see what is going on....

This might answer your question.
The Data on the CFS website is reproduced off of CRIIMSON which is the most up to date information contrary to Zippy's beliefs. For day to day incidents they will remain going for 2 hours after the last entry in CRIIMSON.
For most incidents the only information in CRIIMSON is the initial response and acknowledements depending on how enthusiastic the operator is. The incident summary on the website is for public information. It is not intended on being a resource tracking tool for over-enthusiastic,information craving volunteers...

Assumption being then that, since no CFS people are on duty after 8pm,
and we don't give incident closure messages to MFS comms, A/H incidents,
however insignificant, remain 'going' until B/H next working day.

We complete them at midnight - unless we are told its a major incident and needs to stay there for recording purposes.

So, who enters stuff in CRIIMSON, B/H.
How does word filter back to that person (B/H) that dispatched jobs are completed ? Or escalating, or whatever ?

well pretty simple answer for escalating > CRD talkgroups (124 etc)
as for job completion, remember adelaide fire can eavesdrop on incident talkgroups...even had a few times where Adelaide fires just directly spoken to the incident controller on the Incident TG ;)

Is there a time limit on how long the incident has been running though? (ie, will an incident that started at 2350hrs still be marked complete at midnight?)

If CFS respond to a job in MFS area, why doesnt it show on there?

Perhaps there is a filter that only looks for jobs that come up with region 1.2.3.4.5.or 6 ? not sure

Yeah more than likely. Crimson has the ability to display incidents for the MFS, reg 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or the whole lot. CFS appliance despatched to MFS area would come under the MFS catagory.

I noticed today that the SES and MFS websites have been converted to the new format. See www.ses.sa.gov.au and www.mfs.sa.gov.au
I have noticed some interesting differences between the sites.

still resolving some security issues with SAFECOM IT....so if you put it in your will to your children...they should be able to log in from home on days with a Z in them :wink:

Noticed a photo of a FF wearing PBI with yellow stripes too... Would that be CFS by accident, or are there a few sets of yellow stripes floating around SAMFS?

They're just wannabe volunteers... they wish they were doing it for love, not paycheck ;)
