User notification.

Its coming to that time of year, where all the associated crap with elections gets on the roll.

One thing that has always interested me is when you hear comments like "if x gets in as captain, im handing in my resignation"

Remarks like this have always intrigued me. I find it hard to understand the reasons behind them as it doesn't do moral or progress any good.

If people were truly dedicated to the community, why would 1 person keep them from their duties? Is it to try and scare the person into not nominating / convince others not to vote? and the aftermath, the fact that they dont leave, to make life difficult? or just common sense prevailing?

In the end it annoys me that people would make these comments for malicious reasons, although i guess that is human nature....

What do others think about election 'ploys' for want of a better description?

So, what brigades are sending cadets to the competitions this year??

(Trying to suss out the competition )

How do other brigades get by with cadet trainers/supervisors?

Do you roster members of the brigade??.... Ask parents to help??
We have 1 or 2 people that do it all the time (the boys are running out of steam , want to give them a break)

Any ideas as to how we can get more people involved in cadet training?

ONE firefighter was killed and four others injured when their fire engine smashed into a tree in Sydney's southwest.

The pumper was en route to an urgent 000 callout from Macquarie Fields fire station when it clipped a semi-trailer on Cambridge Road and ploughed into a tree shortly before 10am (AEST), police said.
Emergency crews were on the scene within minutes, but it took almost two hours to free the last of the four survivors from the wreckage, NRMA CareFlight said.

The driver was flown to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition with multiple fractures to his legs and pelvis, as well as abdominal injuries.

Another of his colleagues was also critically injured and was taken by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital.

The other survivors escaped with minor injuries and shock, and were also taken by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital. The truck driver was not harmed.

NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) Commissioner Greg Mullins and a brigades chaplain went to the scene.

CareFlight spokesman Ian Badham said the accident was especially emotional for responding local ambulance crews, who knew the victims.

"It's part of your own community," Mr Badham said.

"They might be wearing a different uniform, but suddenly you are looking after those you're used to seeing on the other side of the job. It's very difficult."

NSWFB would not comment on the accident, saying it was now the subject of an internal investigation.

"It's all subject to investigation and I can't say anything more at this stage," Inspector Gordon Boath said.
