Going direct to the media can have consequences. Which is why I'm guessing they wanted to remain anonymous.

As both a paid and volunteer Fire Fighter, I agree with your comment OZ, all paid and volunteer services are, and should be seen as professional.

However I don't think CFS_firey meant anything by it..

No, sorry, I was referring to the forum user, 24P - With his picture of the twin axel Scania - Being the Pumper Tanker - which is what springs to mind when I hear "P/Tanker" :)

Found some more details on the Hino Ranger Pro 8Z crew...

http://www.hino.com.au/tk/tk_sub_08Zscw.pdf

It does state Turbo intercooled but with a theoretical top speed of 99 KmH.

Most likely due to weight / speed restrictions. (I believe there is a tonnage x speed restriction, someone with further knowledge may be able to better advise on this).

Which I believe emergency vehicles are exempt from in some areas when they meet various classifications...

24P - That was the type of appliance that sprung to mind with the title " Pumper Tanker "..  :)

I think it is the Hino FT.

Which are Turbo / intercooled Diesel 6's.

I don't believe it would be kW. - If it is, it would have to be from the crank.

After posting ^^ , and looking into it, I found CFA also have a " Pumper Tanker " on an Isuzu Chassis.

See pictures here.

I would be guessing, but I am assuming Pete is referring to the Pumper Tankers like MFB and QFRS.  - Like the Scania/ International Twin axel Chassis, 8000lt / m Pumps etc.

That is what I know a " Pumper Tanker / Ultra Large" as.

Happy Valley and Morphett Vale should both have pumpers...34P's are glorified rural trucks....

BRING IT ONNNNNNNN :-D

All EMA brigades should have RCR gear as well for when we have to do COQ to their stations :-D

Don't think they could justify the thousands of dollars in gear, thousands in training, and thousands in upkeep.. On the off chance and rare occasions that CFS does COQ to MFS stations..

Nice concept though.

It's not as rare as you think, Last Year I know Happy Valley did atleast 3 or 4 COQ's to MFS Station's, filtered around this time last year The Old Happy Valley Pumper was sitting down at Adelaide Fire Station on COQ during the Flooding last year, Sitting proudly next to the MFS Trucks that where still stationed down there, One Last Dance with the Old Gal, then only 2 months later she was gone and is now sitting down in the Boneyard, collecting even more rust  :-(  Ohh well Maybe we will find some glory in 24P.... :-P

If you can provide an argument to your powers above, showing your Rescue needs, or lack off, in you PRIMARY, note, *PRIMARY* area, you will have alot better chance of RIV or rescue equipment. (Wanting all EMA brigades to have RIV/Rescue for COQ is just impractical).

CFS will not pay for (and nor do I blame them) thousdands upon thousands of dollars, and almost equally as much in training your members and in upkeep, for the 3 or 4 times you do COQ into MFS stations.

I understand your argument, but that won't get you anywhere.. You need to show risk in your Primary area.

I believe you will have more chance of a Pumper in the short term over Rescue gear. But, anything is possible.

SA Firefighter General / Re: Ammusing pager message.
« on: October 08, 2006, 11:39:25 AM »
Just to explain that to avoid confusion, the MFS: tag at the front of the message was the sending comcen tag, not meaning who is going, it just identifies who the response came from to allow persons to acknowledge the page/call receipt with the appropriate agency.

The code at the end of a pager message will show who is going to the call, and if both MFS and CFS are responding it should show the MFS appliance call signs, or in CFS' case, briagde call signs.

Hope that helps.

Country Fire Service were responded to that mate. '8124' as seen at the end of the response message is the code for the Morphett Vale Brigade.

Just curious has Oakden lost their Skyjet as it's now 301, 302 instead of 303??

Negative Oakden rotate the Skyjet between Wodville and Oakden so it gets a run

Actually I believe the Skyjet is in for servicing.

I wouldn't say offline, many are there by choice and still attend incidents in 2090 when required.

For most it would be a case of returning to operational duties.

I also had this. Is there a PM hiding in cyber world or is it simply an error with the PM message popup function? ~ As I can't find an un-read PM anywhere..
