Yes yes, Found On Rubbish Dump. I would love to own a Holden, if they made something a better than a Barina in the small car class. But they don't. Maybe I should buy a Commodore, complete with CFS sticker, hey Footy?

By the looks of the resukts on the poll and the comments, I have thought of something that could be looked at.

I am no computer nerd and so do not know how one would go about adding a chatroom to the site, any suggestions.

What type of restrictions do people think there should be on using a chat room on SAFF, ie. members only?

Recently, whilst talking to some rellies, they told me to explain stuff about the CFS and jobs that I have attended in ENGLISH. Problem is, I forget that they don't know the terms we use and so forget to explain the meaning.
I know it must be frustrating for them, as it was for me when I first started in the CFS. Has anyone else incountered this.

I have been thinking, would it be possible for a chat room to be set up for the site, so those that want to discuss stuff in real time can do so. How would this be done and what type of restrictions would be needed in regards to content, access.

What do others think?  Thought there should be a poll on this topic.

Could a moderator merge the one with out the poll with this one???

Country Fire Service / Re: GO's & DGO's attending incidents
« on: March 02, 2007, 05:54:48 PM »
In my brigade one of our previous captains and a current member is a DGO in my group, and he regularly responds with us. However, he does not assume a command role unless requested to do so, he is happy to ride on the back of the appliance and work with us FF.

I do not see a problem with this as it gives those of us less experienced a chance to work with some one who has been around for sometime, and he is willing to mentor our SFF and LT in there roles as leaders, without actually doing the job himself.

I have found his knowledge, both at jobs and debriefs, to be quite beneficial.

I have no problems with women joining it creates diversity amongst the CFS and you meet some great new people. If there is any thing they can't do it is the OIC job to allocate tasks to the person most able to complete of that task.

can't do?????  how do you justify that? or a typo????

I think he/ she means it is the OIC's job to allocate jobs according to a persons abilities, not as it may be read and that women FF can't be OICs.

« on: February 20, 2007, 11:36:14 AM »
In my area, when MFS come in to our area we release them as soon as possible, and vice versa, we go into there area, they send us home as soon as possible. The way I see it is if it is CFS area, it is CFS responsibility to do the job, MFS area there responsibility.

Country Fire Service / Re: Why did we join the CFS?
« on: February 19, 2007, 01:42:20 PM »
I joined because I like to help the community and feel as though I am a part of ther big picture instead of just my small neighbour hood. I also JOined because I like to learn new things and the camardiere of the members not only with in my own brigade but the CFS as a whole makes it all worth while.

I have to agree with Blue, who cares what sex a ff is! what matters is that the job dets done by the most capable and trained person, if that is a female so filtered what. However it is good to see that Female FF are being promoted as the Firefighting proffession is still very much a "boys brigade".
