My wife spends more time there than me as she is part of the catering team,I have never been asked to help in Training out there other than when there was a BB1 course.They have a good bunch of both volunteer and staff training officers,as for teh CFA well that needs to be looked into and I am sure that if we could work it and then the site would get used alot more than it does now....

MFS are well aware of the site and I am sure the out going regional training officer did his best to let them know it was here,THE CFA along the border would also like to use it rather than send there members 2.5 hours down the road on a bus when they can drive for 20-30 mins to the Naracoorte site.....

I had a email with photos of a grass fire in Victoria that needed 16 tankers to put out,mind you the grass and scrub was green but very dry under the treelines....

I say bring it on,ses have 1500 members and some of there units have very bad crewing problems in small towns as do the CFS or MFS or SAAS why not combine them into one service that will serve the community better.Small and remote country towns can no longer provide the people power to support 3 or 4 services that have to use Volunteers but at the same time the public or government can not afford to pay for staff..
The Cad system is only as good as the information that brigades and group's supply when it comes around to your groups turn make sure you attend fill in what needs fill in and review it on a yearly time frame so as to make sure things have not been missed or changed....

We have done a couple of session with our CFA brigade just up the road, RCR mainly in the past year but we always attend there group training day.

I for one would like to see the min/max amount of members who are trained in RCR/CABA/HAZ/etc removed if members are willing and able to give up there time to do the course then so be it. By letting members do the course and yearly upskills are we not making sure that we have members who are trained and who will remain in a service that gives them the chance to use the skills that they have learned? What harm does it cause if we have all members with the best skills to do the job rather than have 10 members who are the one's that do it all the time...If we allow members to do the training don't you think it might just might stop the old and young thing?

It would be good to see a couple of new regional training centre's around the place region 4 and may be top of region 2 but would the government come to the party with funding???. Yes it would reduce the amount of time volunteers and instructors spend getting to a center but we would need to make sure that it would get used. I would like to see the MFS use the Naracoorte site rather than ship their members of to Adelaide.
I know that it took a lot of hard work by local Volunteers to get the region 5 TC up and running and if it was not for there work and those staff members that where involved it would never have come about...

From what I understand,there is a requests before the minester that the safecom cad be run by a independent group,not cfs or mfs but something on the lines of VICFIRE. Now I can see the MFS would be upset about this as they would have to find new jobs for those members who work in firecom but they could apply for the positions and retain there government pay and entitlements if that is how it was to go. Now from what was said MFS are at the moment doing the paging for some brigade but there are still delays as we all know in them paging cfs/ses/ambos...... I say bring on an independent call center like VICFIRE but please dont give it to intergraph how they stuffed it up in vic/qld....

So whats this so called rumour doing the rounds of triple MMM radio station about CFS?, does anyone know??? I had a call from one of the guys I work with and he said triple mmm had a hot rumour story about the CFS but where waiting for legal advice before they air it...
