They certainly arent wasting anytime this year. The next drill squad starts on the 26th of March.

SA Firefighter General / Future Strike teams
« on: February 23, 2007, 01:41:55 PM »
Perhaps rather than worry about volunteers getting paid for coq, what about strike teams? Maybe some sort of system needs to be set up for CFS/MFS people to receive payment for attending campaign fires. The issue of getting people to go seems to be becoming more of an issue. Due to some self employed/employed people not being able to sacrifice their incomes to go. Or even a system where the employer can recive payment for allowing their volunteers to be absent like the army reserve do.

That is the older one. There is a newer one that fits on the water trolleys we carry but I dont have a photo of it. It is more compact and lighter than the big one.

Could well be right. All of the Adelaide area are running at least 1 scania 94D. Mt Gambier, Pt Augusta and Whyalla are also. Also I hear Pt Pirie are getting a 93M so Victor are probably justified in getting a new one.

I wouldnt think they would have started yet. What about the medical, interviews etc. You dont usually start straight away anyway they give you a months notice so you can give notice to your employer(s).

If there are no spare skyjets floating around they generally use a spare pump to replace a skyjet that has gone offline. So you will sometimes hear 2011 Adelaide 3rd pump or 241 Woodville pump.

I dont believe that CFS will be encrypted even if it does go digital. It doesnt have to be encrypted just cos its digital. Hopefully it wont be encrypted for the scanner buffs, lol.

I would say that SES radios have all of the SES channels on them as well as multi agency and state ones thats it. They wouldnt have other CFS radio channels just as CFS radios dont have SES channels on them.

It is horrific that some low lifes think it is fun to be involved in high speed chases and the innocent bystanders end up as the victims. They should throw the book at these people. If they dont value their own life ...fine but what ebout the other road users..

Thats a tricky area if you are on workcover. Can get a bit complicated with what you can/cannot do, especially if its workcover from CFS.

Willbe interested to see how that goes. Will it be for comms support like the regional ops brigades or for fire suppression with their own appliances and/or crews??

SA Firefighter General / Re: 003 anf FIP keys
« on: February 08, 2007, 02:14:02 PM »
Our seniors and Station Officers carry these keys to access the boards as a lot of places ,the keys arent kept in the door of the panels. Onr reason for this is to stop people on site from playing around with the boards when the alarm activates. When they do this it can be difficult to figure out what circuit has activated. Have seen locks damaged on panel doors from people shoving screwdrivers and such in them to try and open them.
