ok thanks I understand now, seems an odd setup, but as we're unlikely to get a new appliance anytime in the forseeable future it will all have changed by then I'm sure.

You never know Dave, your brigade does more than 2 calls a year so there is hope for a new one yet :-D

Incident Operations / Re: 2 trucks vs Stobie on South Rd
« on: November 23, 2010, 06:10:49 PM »
Yes two truck vs stobie poles we couldn't believe it either!!! :-o

I was onscene at the first one prior to MFS arrival. Prospect 371 was first arrival followed by 204 and then 202. The heavy rescue pod was stop called as there were no persons trapped, although one very embarassed truck driver.

It was a "Murphys" truck which the tipper section had clipped the pole and brought down all the high voltage and low voltage and also about a dozen services to local businesses and houses. The pole came down on a vacant block in between two businesses and started a grass fire.

The photos you see on the Adelaide Now website were taken by me.

In the second incident, a Gourmet Poultry truck clipped a pole on the western side of Goodwood Rd opposite Kennards Hire, and brought down power lines across both directions making it impassable to high vehicles.

Traffic on Goodwood Rd was closed and diverted.

Bill and myself used to work out of the same ambulance centre at Unley, and for as long as I have known him he has had an ambulance radio in every car he's owned

DR1 was at his best again this morning, responding to a collapsed courier driver on Dequetteville Tce, god help us all when these guys eventually hangup the microphones, we can only pray that others follow in their footsteps :-)

Off topic slightly, has anyone heard of a 'village pumper'.

YMCA 14??

If they send it to some places "village pumper" will be appropriate

i'm sure the Mets don't mind...a short trip across the square once a days keeps the stats looking good....

and probably justifies at least a couple of $ million in ESL funding every year too!

Also helps pay for all those new Scania's

Delta Romeo can go to any job they wish if they are the closest resource, and usually call up and nominate they are in the area to respond.

PS If you dont know who Dr.Bill Griggs is, just look on the cover of the Adelaide 2010/2011 White Pages

« on: November 14, 2010, 11:55:36 AM »
This is the standard prodedure when changing appliances.Old Fleet Number changing to new Fleet Number so 161 is now Beulah Park 211

Both MCT's must be on to effect the changeover.

Fleet 161 is a spare Scania 93M while Beulah Parks 94D gets serviced.

Just getting back to LS crew. I saw someone getting out of LS1 car (same number plate and fleet number), but on the back of their uniform it indicated that they were a "Rescue Paramedic". Now this (I thought) was for SOT. Any ideas :?

Ok just to put your mind at ease both Medstar, and the SOT's do shared stretches between the two, ambulance and also the ACTL's to keep a hands on and also keep up skills so it's not uncommon to be a third on an ambulance or double up on SPRINT or any of the Lima cars for your info, in recent weeks I have seen this quite often at jobs, Boredy can correct me if im wrong, but that is waht they have told me when speaking to them

Cool, thanks, have any pictures? Also H702 or H712 are also called, are they in the same unit as LS1? Are LS1 the managers of the H702, H712 or are they different?

Yes I do have pics, and LS runs from McLaren Vale Ambulance Station.

The Hotel cars you refer to are Extended Care Paramedics, and are not in the same unit or control as LS1.

Lima Sierra callsigns are ACTL=Area Clinical Team Leader as are LN,LE,LW.

The numbers can be 1,2,3,or 4 after it depending on what shift ie LS1 or LS2 which is the South ACTL

Lima Sierra's vehicle is a Ford Territory as are most of the ACTL's

They are not a workshop vehicle, that's what they have Workshop 15 for who does all the after hours fix up jobsetc.

The Humour Zone / The Harley Davidson Facts
« on: November 05, 2010, 05:18:39 PM »
The Harley-Davidson Facts

The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson , died and went to heaven.

At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur. 'Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want to in heaven.'

Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, ' I want to hang out with God.'

St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God.

God recognized Arthur and commented, 'Okay, so you were the one who invented the Harley-Davidson motorcycle? '
Arthur said, 'Yeah, that's me...'

God commented: 'Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty unstable, makes noise and pollution and can't run without a road?'

Arthur was a bit embarrassed, but finally spoke, 'Excuse me, but aren't you the inventor of woman?'

God said, 'Ah, yes .'

'Well,' said Arthur, 'professional to professional, you have some major design flaws in your invention !

1.There's too much inconsistency in the front-end suspension

2.It chatters constantly at high speeds

3. Most rear ends are too soft and wobble about too much

4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust
5. The maintenance costs are outrageous!!!!

'Hmmmmm, you may have some good points there,' replied God, 'hold on.'

God went to his Celestial supercomputer, typed in a few words and waited for the results.

The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.

'Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed,' God said to Arthur, 'but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours'.

Country Fire Service / Re: Apollo Gold Pagers.
« on: October 21, 2010, 07:05:45 PM »
Sent a Samsung off for repair a few months ago, it had a few extra addresses programmed in it, so on the repair sheet I made a big bold note for them to make sure that whatever pager came back was programmed with the extra addresses.

I got a replacement Apollo back yesterday without the extra addresses in it.

I really wouldn't have thought it would be that hard to understand the fairly clear instructions included on the sheet.

More of my time now wasted sending it back again, given recent examples I don't think we will have it back before Xmas now.

I hear your frustration Matt, I sent a Samsung pager off in March 2008, it ended up in Region 3 then 4, and then back to Region 1 where it was lost and replaced with my new Yellow one in April this year

Not to mention the one I sent off for repair and came back with Stirling's response address in it....the member was wondering why noone else turned up for the call :-o
