Isn't that normal for a new gearbox? But i guess 3 years is prob a bit long for this to still be an issue.

SAAS / Re: Interesting problems with private providers.

How d insurance companies look at these crowds? the threads here are giving them quiet a hard rap and I would assume that you wouldn't be able to get any liability insurance unless you demonstrated a certain level of consistent skill across your staff.

also the air crane doesn't run on 9000L per drop it starts of at about 3600L and as its fuel load gets lower it can carry up to 9000L but it going to be close to running on fumes by then

SAAS / Paramedical standards
« on: April 18, 2010, 09:55:06 PM »
There seems to be a lot of debate on here of late about new private medical providers. Are there any standards about how they operate or is it pretty much fair game and each company has to develop their own SOPs etc?

and  also what government regulation is on the industry?

Country Fire Service / Re: Paging - Which Appliance(s) is Required?
« on: April 12, 2010, 04:48:59 PM »
The pager messages that i have seen specify what they want
eg if there was a job that summertown was required to sent a general purpose appliance too it would say SUMM00 SUMM42.

However i have only seen this with tanker responses not hazmat and rescue as i frequently respond to the same jobs as Stirling and they are always STRL19

Ok a few questions

Does anyone know anything about the new 14s similar to the booleroo build? is that the only 1 ?

I heard rumours that no more 34s are being built? seems odd to me could the person have meant 34p instead?

does this mean we are going back to 24 builds? I know there is a prototype being built but does anyone know any more?

thanks

The ranger
welcome to the forum.

Can you please post a more detailed and reasonable post. the one above sounds like it could happen in CFS but your post is more like a whine which we could all post our own sob stories. Please make it a logical and direct augment like Darren suggested or i will remove this thread

SA Firefighter General / Emergency services at Public arranged events
« on: February 11, 2010, 10:08:47 AM »
There is some decent discussion going on in the SAAS board about who is going to do first aid at an event and what their qualifications are or should be. Reading that made be ask what about other services and events

With the recent or current hooha over the Stirling Christmas pagent and youths getting drunk and causing an issue i heard via some form of un official grape vine that SAPOL no longer want to do policing at public events similar to the pagent or the Norwood food and wine festival. My question is where should government services aka SAPOL, SAAS, CFS, MFS, SES draw the line between what they offer and do and where some form of private firm is hired?

Personally i think this type of work should be factored in to the services but it wouldn't be unreasonable for a fee to be factored in. I also have been told that the police tried to stop being involved at footy games in the past, and this failed.

Country Fire Service / What keeps you coming back?
« on: December 18, 2009, 09:54:51 AM »
Simple question, In short I am pretty much certain that people only hang around for the stuff they get for themselves. As we all enjoy something in CFS then there is a reason we hang around. What is it for you? and maybe it is possible to look at improving the bits we like which will help  recruit and retain.

the poster is pretty clear, The problem is that a whole lot of people seem to like interpreting the memo in astrange way, the one i saw points you to the poster and manual. and refreshes that uniforms shouldn;t be mixed.

Note the manual already said that.
