Hi Guys,Their idea is that the front windscreen is the toughest window in the truck and is less likely to break when hit with the fire.
Just after your thoughts. TFS are starting to do a similar thing, as part of their drill they are taking firelighters, fuel cans, chainsaws etc off the truck and placing them away from the truck. If possible the truck is to be placed so that the front of the truck is facing towards where the fire is coming from. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with either just curious about every ones thoughts, the TFS boys are divided on it. But if these are good ideas it could help improve the CFS drill
you mean the front of the truck.....the part with the glass and rubber and plastic in it....where the people are kept?.....as opposed to the back of the truck, where the bits of crap that can be replaced live, the back....thats as far away from the front, where the people are kept? If we get down to worrying about the 1L of 1:25 mix in the chainsaw.....shits are really trumps. Spend the time more usefully fighting for a piece of the single crew protection blanket the CFS kindly provides that magically isnt affected by the division between front and back seats. Maybe the Tas boys should try thinking with the other head....they seem to have too tight a grip on the current one
while we're talking fantasies.....why have two services...lets have one and be done with innefective duplication, wasted effort and public confusion...It works in Tasmania, some brigades are full time professionals, others are volunteer brigades with retained personel and others are just straight Volunteer brigades.and most importantly no one cares which one your in as long as the wet stuff gets put on the red stuff before it turns into black stuff.

I know this is abit off the topic but having recently assisted DEH with mop up/patrol of a fire last week they are very thorough when to comes to mopping up and blacking out hotspots so while its fun to have a lil dig at them for one thing we must bear in mind they do a good jobI was at the same fire and they seemed to be doing more driving, looking and talking then actually fighting the fire. I'd even say you did more than them and your main job was looking in the tank at the water level LMGDFAO
Has anyone had any marvelous Training nights/ideas that manages to get all involved in the past few years??? Let us all know your stories.

I never said who I was talking about, I didn't even mention what brigade or group they where from. I bet if the CFS sent some one around every brigade in the state there would be a number of members who would fit into the '6%" catergory who don't attend training and who's compedidence is somewhat lackingMod Note: removed reference to original post
For someone who makes it so clear on who they are, I would watch the level at which you publically slander other people.
What will be interesting is how many times the "Emergency Call" button will be activated on the new GRN radios when the rollout is completed.Not exactly the best spot for itkeep the 0.5's away from the radios and everything should be ok
We got out the door this timewhoopie poxy little tree with a crew of 4.5. If I hadn't been driving I probably would of slept thru it on the back. Some people got excited though

All we used was an axe to cut the tree off the road and had the incident completed very quickly
So how many GRN radios do briagdes have in their appliances,down here its only main grn radio and one grn handheld, One main VHF and 3 handheld VHF..gee your privlidged to get that many billy.

I dont know why this is an issue as apart from a predetermined Rally response, RCR is defined by the RCRD Green Book.Don't bet on it. I don't mean to be racist but if I crashed south of home in another groups area I'd be asking for either Penola or Millicent to be responded not a certain other emergency service
With two RCR brigades attending, if you were the one trapped in the vehicle you would'nt care who showed up to cut you out

As FDI of 50+ rarely occurs around Adelaide Hills,
it wouldn't occur so often as to become mere background 'noise'.

who handles that? the group of state?
State obviously handles vehicle registration, but they'd only care about it's clasification as a MR/HR vehicle, not whether it's a fire truck.
It would be up to the group as to whether or not they 'register' farm units. Some groups apparently do this before the fire season. Our group doesn't pay too much attention to farm units - farmers just rock up to a fire if they live near the incident.
One day it could be a combined stand with SES, CFS & MFS at the one location. I understand they do this at Field Days but have not progressed the concept to the RA&HS Adelaide Show yet.
