So back to my question . Is there a map & document available electronically that can be posted here or is this all bull shite? (see picture)ephemeralthoughts.com/tag/humor/

So far no-ne has provided any evidence to suggest otherwise! At the moment it is all being tossed around with huge amounts of emotion etc.

I think before long, daisies and other plants will be growing out of this thread due to the high amont of fertiliser.

There you go the challenge is out there to prove me wrong

so we havent all seen the little map yet? made its way to us at training tonight and wow...  although im sure its not exactly what will end up happening, some very interesting things to be seen. for those in region one with no clue what im talking about, think 12 groups being reshuffled into about six.

is the map and the proposal available electronicaaly so that it can be posted here for all to see or is this just CJM RC1 wanking on again?

I hear another long term staff member is flying the coup!

Almost a total staff change from this region in recent times.

Is it just me or are the numbers of senior long term staff members leaving the service increasing?

Better get Fox & Mulder onto this are they being taken by Aliens?

L hear that a Mt Lofty brigade has also done some twin rope training last year.I think it is Bridgewater as I remember seeing something about them using it at a chimmney fire recently? But I understand they did it off their own back to protect their members when working @ heights.

I say good on them!

Now is the time to become Militant and start voicing your displeasure @ how we are being mistreated & used by the Government.Election time is getting closer haven't you all noticed the Wanky anouncements that have been happening of late. eg. Fire officers for DEH, GRN bossts all a bit sus

If people don't ark up now and demand a better service, equipment replacements & a rise to a maximum SFEC instead of the minimum SFEC. The DEP CF always quotes the minimum give us a break & give a margin to work to . who is to blame!

I hear of a protest drive to Parliment steps is in the planning stages to embarass  :oops:the Government by CFS Vollies is very close :x

oooooowwwwww so tempting a job where everyone winges n whines about u n blames u for everything because they think cos ur paid u make every decision  :-D....

You obviously don't know what u r talking about. You also must have such a good job like a cleaner or something? You have NO NEED to earn more than 80K per year or don't need the money. Do not need or could use the the two weeks off per month plus an annual leave of two weeks.

Country Fire Service / Re: CABA BMI
« on: December 02, 2008, 11:39:55 AM »
I mean realistically how many people are not getting through because they are over 35?  im sure maybe out of that there is maybe 1 out of 20 that have a genuine reason (body builder) for being over 35.  Everyone else need to lose weight..not just for the service but in general for your health!

I just looked up this BMI stuff and have to say I'm very surprised the CFS standard is 35 and not 30.  See http://www.cfs.org.au/training/breathing-appartus-medical.asp (yes with the spelling error) and download the medical form.  35 is well into 'obese', 30 is the top end of 'overweight'.  Eg.  http://www.mydr.com.au/tools/bodymass.asp

Reading these threads here about CABA and BMI you would get the impression CFS is imposing overly onerous standards on people but I don't think that is the case, in fact perhaps they don't go far enough.  I easily meet the max BMI figure but don't feel I am fit enough for BA (I am in the 'overweight' category, will have to work on that!).

I see all that obese people  are still whining what is this this was started CABA BMI

So how long has this been bandied around TOO LONG!

To all you fat whinny people LOOSE WEIGHT,& GET FITTER.The BMI is set @  30 and will not be changed.

MOVE ON and LOOSE WEIGHT get fitter BECOME A BETTER FIRE-FIGHTER & try again. All this crap that we will run out of CABA operators is just Your excuse .

end of transmission.

Why can't people just accept the fact the BMI is set @ that level to protect people from themselves.

People with a BMI greater than the limit are simply TOO FAT and are a risk to themselves & All.

The argument that I am just over is no good you are still obese!!! A BMI of 30 is still OBESE get over & find another task you can do or loose the required amount & try again. No-one has said you can't get fitter so sSTOP WHINING!

Country Fire Service / Re: East Torrens Group Base
« on: May 23, 2008, 02:17:02 PM »
I think this is one of the Regional Level/type 3 bases being established? My understanding is that they are establishing many around the state?

But I here that all is not going well as some brigades and group bases are being forcibly taken over without a whimper. But some of the smart ones are resisting with good reason. After all many of these were built with community money and really hard work!!!!
I think you have already named one example who are not willing to bend over and take it up the ****.They have offered to help but under their conditions.

After situations like was mentioned above, where brigades were tossed out of their stations for long periods.

It makes good sense for these Bases to be in a safe zone maybe attached to a shopping centre/clear area or football oval away from the danger zone. Many sheds are near to heavy timber/grassland areas. As for Lofty Group why not site the group @ Burnside which is well away from the Adl Hills hotspots as is Mawson Base situated in a clear zone by the footy club.

Country Fire Service / Re: Paid CFS staff as Officers in Brigades
« on: January 23, 2008, 08:38:21 AM »
Having been in that position as (past)staff member I personally thought it was a load of bovine faeces. I was required to step down & someone else take my role. The problem was that everyone asked my opinion or looked for my leadership & direction during jobs including the incoming officer( remembering I was a firefighter) so i might as well stayed there in the position.
I also managed to attend a fair amount of calls and training while staff.

« on: December 15, 2007, 01:36:22 PM »
I am led to beleive there is a possiblity that there may be some positions going in Moomba for firefighters over the Xmas/New year period as they need some for a big shutdown of the Gas Processing plant. A good mate of mine is going up there for the work and has told me he will put my name down if he can.

I am no oldie but have been in service 14 years or so and the Firies seem to be getting much younger? Did anyone see page 4 of the Advertiser with the two what looked like cadets at the O'Halloran Hill fire?

These guys should be proud that they are out there doing their bit. By the look they must be just 16.

Well done young FF's keep them coming.

I wish we had some more coming in that age group.

Country Fire Service / Goss - Aldgate to merge
« on: November 20, 2007, 12:32:37 PM »
I heard a whisper that Aldgate is going to merge with Bridgewater and that is the reason Bridgy has installed a new fence around their station.Originally Aldgate were to get a new station, but the land is to be sold. With the money from that they will build an addition to make Bridgwater even bigger to house Aldgates two appliances. The fencing will temporarily be used to store their vehicles and BW 14 is to go due to age, freeing up one bay while the other will be built next door with an opening to the rear area?
Can anyone deny or confirm this or is my source pulling my leg? Wow I thought that station was huge already!
