AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT - BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
SOUTH AUSTRALIA REGIONAL OFFICE

STORM TIDE ADVICE for Gulf St Vincent and Spencer Gulf
Issued at 4:05 pm on Friday, 18 July 2008

The weather conditions are expected to cause sea levels to be higher than
indicated by tide tables during the weekend. Sea levels along parts of Spencer
Gulf and Gulf St Vincent are likely to be around half a metre or more higher
than the highest tide of the year with the afternoon/evening high tides on
Saturday and Sunday.

At the Port Adelaide Outer Harbor tide gauge, sea levels between 3.2 to 3.5
metres [local gauge datum] are possible with the high tides on both Saturday and
Sunday.

This advice will be updated at or before 10:00 am Saturday.

Note: A change in the definition of the datum occurred on 1 January 2001. A tide
level of 3.5 metres in 2001 is equivalent to a tide level of 3.77 metres on the
old scale.

I think they are on hold till they fix the problems with the last batch ...
Ok i wouldnt have thought last years batch mattered seeing as how they were being made by a different company? Have heard reports drom they are at the inspection stage to not started and anywhere in between those 2. Was curious cause no-one seems to know.

Has anyone heard the status of this years 34P's? Are they made / not made / in Adelaide / on or behind schedule? Whether they are the older or new model Isuzu?

Also Zippy, as much us those of us who have done SFEC upgrades over the last few years have tried, you can't use the MFS example at all, we tried that with all of our upgrade proposals and were told "MFS get what they get".

Ah well, we will still keep putting the fires out, fancy truck or not it just grinds my gears that those of us that have Type 2's have them for a reason, and we aren't ever going to be able to acheive the next level of appliance simply because we don't have the money  :-(
Have also been down that road, being told you cant use backing up MFS as reason for a pump, but also you cant have one cause the MFS are there? Anyway, as previously stated they have probably done another brigade a favour cause i cant see Burnside being around (in the capacity they are now) for another 20 years to enjoy the truck anyway. They'll probably just paint it red and give it to the MFS anyway.

Has anyone actualy compared the new nomex stuff to some of the older stuff? The material seems a lot thinner, so probably wouldnt provide as good protection as some of the older stuff anyway, rural or structure.

Mast have been a Adeliade fire thing last night as there was a ten min delay for a page to a MVA when MFS from Port Augusta where already on the way...Also MVA outside the bridge prison MFS where paged then wher on scene and asked fro CFS to send one appliances?? what happend to the two station turn out.....

Maurice road in Murray Bridge is part CFS, part MFS area. Hence the initial MFS/SES response to the job. Adelaide Fire are not expected to know that the prison part of Maurice Rd is CFS area. Alarm responses to the prison are dual response but those are auto despatch nothing to do with Adelaide Fire. CFS were obviously requested to attend the MVA by MFS crew on scene as it was in fact CFS area.
I understand that but to wait 1/2 an hour and do it, although you would think the local crews would have that sort of knowledge and pass it on sooner? maybe say when acknowledging the page perhaps?

Because bill when it comes to outside the metro area adelaide fire have no idea so theyll just respond the nearest mfs resource, even if it is 100km's away.

Wow! Another "Everyone's invited" over-resourced SNAFU carpark job, brought to you by Mt. Lofty Group!

Is Burnside the closest most appropriate response, for atmospheric monitoring, with Oakbank Balhannah just down the road????
Not when the DGO's from Burnside

242
i am guessing that numbers is referring to a bit of a lofty group thing that whenever there is a job there is a huge response.
One in all in policy.
PS they have been called back there.

Fire Stations and SES Units / Re: Biggest Station?
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:43:00 AM »
I hear they are getting a second storey to house the group base, getting a driveway through the rear to facilitate a drive through station, as well as extending out two more bays to allow for group cars/imt.

Confirm/Deny?
Or is all that for it to be ready when the MFS take over the area?  :-D :-D

Pt Augusta, Whyalla, Pt Lincoln, Roxby Downs etc all have much more risk and population than Nuriootpa. So i would be very suprised if MFS suddennly set up shop there.
Or even the Mount to go totally full time before that happened?

Nah i though more along the lines of teaching the ambo drivers not to crash red lights at 30kmh.

hmmm i thought i read arson initially....maybe thats what they thought and they changed it?
Quick snip from mondays online advertiser;
The probable cause was an electrical fault in the ceiling, with about of $80,000 damage caused.

248
maybe they could spend some on driver training.

I think the media had already listed them both as arson.
The servo fire was put down to an electrical fault from what i read in the paper unless thats changed?
