Why should i come to the Metro area to work a busy station last time i did all i heard was a heap of sooking about how overworked paid staff are. sooking about having to do a Cat 4 from LMH to memorial and how thats not fair on an ICP to have to do that.

also i do a transfer in to adelaide then get stuck doing the work of paid staff mean while my home town is with out an ambulance cause comms are trying to keep the paid staff in the metro area happy

one other thing is in the metro area you can get back up quicker and also a higher level of back up a paramedic car can call for ICP back up we cant we get what ever is closer even if it is ATS or nearest paid station is 20mins away east or south so do the math if we go west or north we have no para back up and if we need it, it takes even longer

so what i am saying is dont sook about your so called poor work conditions cause you have beter conditions then some and also you are getting paid to put up with comms we dont if your not happy with how comms treat you find a new job mabye i dont know just dont sook cause you wont get any sympathy

Broadmatrix

we get our fair share of uncoordinated coordinators even to the point where they cant even say the name of the crew or even though its on the computer that we are an ambulance they still dispatch us as IC or PARA. its not just the METRO crews that cop the shortend of the stick dont for get the country who cop all the crappy long jobs.

incorect response
no back up
single responding to cat 1
requesting other resources and not getting them cause they forgot to ring MFS

METRO dont have all the problems country have them too and dont forget the volunteers who get floged cause the paid staff work load is to much poor dears

It doesnt have to be an identical truck just the basic storage the same so that if you go on a strike team or task force you should know providing you work with the same truck at home what the basic lay out is.

i dont know the full details of the incident a goolwa but some of the roads out hear we cant get down cause we are too light and just slide thru the mud insaying that there are some roads we have to wait for burra to come and help with as we just cant get down they are 2 wet just saying the F250 is better for the country

just a few words like wall collapsed or shoring required can make all the difference in an SES response as to do they need extra gear

we get the other problem of CFS not reading the entire page

read details dont read who is coming so when its hamley bridge 19 (cant remember short code) and kap029 they dont read it

we rock up with all the bling on and find out we were never required and CFS defence is we didnt know you were comming you show them on the pager and they go oh sorry but mistakes happen and we all get over it

so drink a cup of cement and harden the .... up

well you give a country SAAS team a merc and ask them to do what they did in a F250 and you get bogged ambulances now they take away the 6 cylinder mrecs and give us 4 cylinder mercs some one in town is thinking

this was found in NSW in 1994 when the RFS did have standard layout including some trucks not even having the same pump set up every truck i have been involved in setting up when it arrives at a station received a basic layout plan.

CFS are shooting them selves in the foot by giving each station a different truck i understand some stations need pumpers and some need a 24 or 14 but each type of appliance should have a basic lay out

24 is done this way
a 24 special another way so on and so forth CFS need a plan and stick with it dont keep changing lay outs

thatas fair enough but still the principl is the same just adapt around it as you said BA brigades taht use BA alot have it a bit different but there is no reason as to why they should stray away from standard stowage

for an example lockers numbered 1 to 12 starting behind pasanger ba in locker 3 and 4 on your truck and in 3and 4 on my truck will be ba then add some extras but keep the base layout the same

when i was with CFS one of the groups i was in every 24 was set up the same way and even most of the brigades around us were the same i was amazed at how i could get things from other trucks with out having to look for it move house 80 kms and its different i thought CFS had standards of stowage for each appliance

chook we dont have and f250 that was taken away so that port pirie was able to use it for the boat. kinda point less when it had problems towing a float but anyway.

we dont have a 4wd that we can put gear in anymore all we have is the landcruiser wagon and we cant put pumps etc in the boot for OHS&W

i have seen them ask him do do something as simple as start a pump on the izuzu 34 which is so simple to start and he cant they go through it with him i have been through it with him when i was still there and yet he just doesn't get it i could understand if it was a new truck but it has been there just over 2 years now the crew want something done and nothing will get done does anybody have any ideas on what to do

Country Fire Service / Re: BA TRAINING

because the BFF1 is so simple to pass plus out this way all you have to do is pass that and your in when i did my training for CFS it was all closed book you can do it as many times as you like but you didnt get the help you get now.

SES you get 3 chances adn then your out if your found not competent by the 3rd go then you cant have that qulification

SAAS / Re: Breakin at Bordertown Ambulance Station
« on: August 06, 2008, 10:56:54 PM »
ambulance stations are now going to a bi lock security alarm open the PA door and then stick you key in the alarm and turn however most crews dont know which stations have them i know of 2.

i also know of a CFS station that was the same push the door in and up at the same time and she would open so higher security would be good

Mod Note: we wont advertise how to get into the station....

they have an extesive physical testing including jumping from the chopers, vertical work, confind space, so much walking and running including with medic packs plus i belive you have to be an intensive care paramedic to be able to apply

nice idae about the quad bike rides but no body gets on my bike well not anybody from out side the unit.

we cant do vertical rescue as we are not curent in that have thought about a general rescue or a search but we dont want to be boring in what we do we are lucky enough to be one of 2 RCR crews in light group even though we are not involved with them as a service thanks for the ideas i had thought about the potential for running to things for them a more rescue specific display and then also a fire or storm related display

the problem is with in the CFS here the captain knows what is going on but doesnt care if 5 operators wont work with him R2HQ keeps over ruleing the light group cause he keeps threating to take them to court if he cant do the course

when he asked if he could do it he was told no he couldnt. he went to R2 who said yes he can if he passes the medical he did but the brigade and group are not happy the only people that are happy to let him do it are the captain and R2
