Part left over of the old Regions. This has now changed recently to two Regions & 10 Divisions that paid staff work in now. ut pager codes have not been updated to reflect this, but I think it does not really matter.

Each pager message is duplicated to paid regional staff on duty. This enables them to keep track of Unit workloads and any taskings that require more assistance.

I believe:
SNOTIFY C = State Notify Central region
SNOTIFY E = State Notify East region

Certain taskings (eg Marine Rescue) also automatically page the paid State Duty Officer as well as the regional.

Like any cross-training (eg RCR, vertical, use of facility at Noarlunga, etc) I am sure if CFS asked then SES would provide instructors.

I believe money stopped some of the development .... the 'Superman Shed' is not full anymore. Training is ongoing to Units.

I think Strath SES were on scene to help both people out with CFS weren't they ? They and South Coast must be struggling   =;)

I thought eForms was part of the 'E-mergency Connect' project for all agencies associated with SAFECOM !!
According to their July 2012 newsletter, they have signed the contracts with suppliers.

Unusual Edinburgh SES were called to 'helicopter landing site' incident, given they are a non-RCR crew.

But then other services were responding to Structure Domestic @ Gawler East and 2 car MVA at Edinburgh (according to my reading of paging website)

Adelaide Fire also paged at the same time:

SASES / Re: change in SES SCC

It will be a shame to see the volunteer role end, many people have provided a lot of hours service to the local community through the SES SCC.

What will the SES SHQ units primary role now become Andrew?

Some hints given for all Operations & Co-ordination Units. Will depend on how paid staff settle in their new structure & positions when they handle operations. Possibly SES State Operations Centre, Field Commands, AIIMS, etc....but nothing that would be a regular volunteering role.

Many things caused the demise (volunteer response times was one of them, $$$ another, politics, unions, volunteer management, etc, etc...)

**personal opinion only**

SASES / change in SES SCC
« on: July 02, 2012, 01:58:22 PM »
Yesterday marked a significant change in my volunteering.

Not sure of good or bad (I have some personal opinions which will not be aired), will wait and see if the Unit is allocated a regular response role.

MFS Comcen (Adelaide Fire) will now process all CRD functions for SA SES. No volunteers to be involved.

Good luck MFS Comcen operators when the next multi-incident event occurs. Bye bye end of a era that has been ongoing for approx 15 years.

RESPOND RESCUE ANIMAL, CROSS RD/FULLARTON RD NETHERBY,MAP:ADL 131 A12,TG 182, == KOALA IN A TREE :STM401 :

Huh??? Whats next...Rescue fish from pond.......bird from aviary???

Really...this is not an emergency services call. The koala is either in the trees in the Monastery (behind the cement trees) or at the Servo given the location given.

Call in RSPCA, DENR or a wildlife rescue team...but a MFS appliance for this is ridiculous.

I think that is the process for anything high off the ground or heavy....why not get a sick animal (assumption, could be anything) safe rather than a paid crew sitting in the station. **personal opinion only**

Pre CRD and pre CAD you just called SES when you actually needed them, they were happy, no stop calls, and every job they got to work. Every SES member I have spoken to said they want to go back to those days before its to late and they lose more members.

Must be speaking to different SA SES volunteers than I am....personally I do not want to go back to the old 'pre CAD' method you described.

....The SES are responded with different job numbers to CFS/MFS but to the same job,....

From my personal understanding, the different job numbers is because CRIIMSON is not suitable to SES as a database. So a different one is to be implemented in the future & thus the seperation of the data.

Or are you one of the "fire service should do it all" believers?
....Have you read Peter Wicks (Onka CFS GO and Onka SES UM) paper on combining the SES and CFS in many areas?  He makes very good arguments but unfortunately as I said before, vested interests and empire building has seen it swept under the carpet instead of considering what would be best for the community.....

Already voted on by SES Volunteers months ago.

....Only issue so far is that the GRN's that the SES have can only be changed channel one at a time (so it takes ages) rather than inputting the channel you want to go to like the CFS hand-helds....

All newer SES GRN's have CFS talkgroups under Zone 4. They can be chnaged from the keyboard if the operator knows how.

From a personal viewpoint, why was such a stock of uniforms in storage anyway ?

Majority i have seen are spreadsheet based, but some are now available on the internet websites (behind member logins).
It allows for members to arrange rostering swaps.

Just viewed the YouTube clip "Richmond Fire-Rescue Quint 1 responding to medical call"

The extra siren plus air horn they use at intersections must be deafening
No wonder they are wearing headsets.

mmm...ok...I can see how that reads....my added adjectives were similes for the media in general, not SA Firey per se, after he had added his qualifier for his justification in being so close to a going job with a wide exclusion zone for the purpose of taking pictures. I still believe that rubberneckers....whether they be joe public or quasi-media types have no place around a job like that

I reject the adult tag as an outrageous slur....

Let's get back to normal programming.

Fully agree and thanks

and for the record.....whilst I certainly used rubbernecker in my post.....you in fact started the personal abuse..lol.... did i mention not very smart either?

MisterTeddy...are you claiming this is not bullying or abuse ".....rude, scum sucking, story twisting, ambulance (or fire appliance) chasing, rubber necker then?...."

Who cares who started what...that is a school yard claim that I thought would not come from an adult.

is anything that cuases any form of change ever well recieved by the "settled/comfortable F/F's"
Believe it or not, there are many that quite happily adapt to change. I think the issue is more the travelling. For example, if you lived in the Barossa Valley or out at Victor and the closest station (that you were permanent at, which means you are unable to claim for travel) was still 45 mins - 1 hrs drive away, would you want to drive even further, keeping in mind that the cluster stations might not even be the neighbouring stations.........

Somehow, I can't see it happening for a long time.
For the record, I personally think it is a good idea.

and a lot of ordinary workers are doing this travel time or more every day.... oh brother
