Had a quick read (due to the lack of pages) of the latest Volunteer mag.
I love the bottom of page 15 - Xmas Shopping? Think Olympus Camera.
Donations
to the CFS for every camera purchased between 1 Oct 2010 and 31 Jan 2011.
And on page 28 a small article about the Clare Auto Shop Fire. Big job and lots of photos around , but a super small article with a small photo.

Country Fire Service / New BA Course Internal and External
« on: July 20, 2009, 04:33:13 PM »
The CFS is looking at having 2 BA levels .
Internal - This would be the same course that is being used now
External - BA for people who don't want to go inside a building, but would be
happy to have BA for car fires, Hazmat and other jobs that are external firefighting.
What are the thoughts of others??

I think that it is a good idea

SA Firefighter General / Brigade Crew Problem
« on: July 29, 2008, 08:23:03 AM »
Lots of brigades are having massive crew problems. If you check the pagers site, you will see lots of brigades defaulting.
Some Brigades and groups have some great systems in place to fix this
Crew Roster
Duty Drivers
Responding 2 brigades in the day to any calls
But the big question what is the CFS doing about this? Yes they will try and help with recruitment. But this is not enough.
Don't just think this is a CFS problem. SES have problems, SA Ambulance have problems in country areas and so do the MFS in some country stations.
What is the government doing about this?
In some parts of SA I would hate have a problem and need help.

All Equipment discussion / Roller Doors
« on: March 09, 2008, 09:29:33 AM »
Well after reading a few comments that some service can't get out the door because the power went out is a real concern. Bit hard to say you are professional if you can't get out the front door.
So what are the options??
Not all roller doors are the same, but a few options are  Back Up Power. A wall mounted Uninterpretable Power Supply (UPS) will allow you to operate your door in
the case of a power failure. Some roller doors have the chain installed that you can use to pull up the door if you have a power problem.
I think that the management of the unit needs a hand, just saying we asked the power to be for this to get fixed is not good enough. Yes go through the chain of command, up to the minister if required. If this fails go to the media. The public  deserve better. And the unit deserves it as well. I feel for the members who have given time up to go to a call and can' respond.

All Equipment discussion / Hooligan Tools
« on: February 08, 2008, 08:48:44 AM »
Hooligan Tools will break if you use the wrong hooligan tool. They have a few different designs.Any tool will break if not use correctly.
The PRO-BAR HALLIGAN is used by FDNY, you can get other types of hooligan tools I think the model is SPF which has different features.
You will find that the end is different one is used for cutting metal, the other is used for leverage.

Incident Operations / House Fire at Kalangadoo
« on: January 31, 2008, 06:27:38 AM »
From Adelaide Now
A HOUSE fire in the State's south-east destroyed a township property last night, causing an estimated $200,000 damage.
About 40 firefighters were sent to the Kalangadoo home after a triple-0 call alerted the CFS at 8.40pm.

The house is understood to be within the township and the occupants were not inside. No injuries have been reported or damage to neighbouring properties.

Fire cause investigators will arrive this morning to determine the cause of the blaze.

Is this Robert34 patch??
