Why then not give a Brigade with over 100 callouts and having members sent home because the 34 went with a full crew no way to get another 8 members out another unit.

would love to get a new truck  Region has told us we need it in our area as we have a lot of tanks in the Group that have that size just not sure where to place them.

laugh every time a single brigade goes to say an alarm, and the station calls them self "Blah Base".. When really they are "Blah Station".. (Until that incident escalates and the incident requires the opening of the Base).

I know when some brigades where thought the Progress Association and we are talking way back before the 1960s the Staton was called " Blah Base" as the station I am with was started in 1952 and I have found some of there reports.   Old habits are hard to get out off.

So why did we get a blasting this week about needing more members to do GRN training as it is not included in Level 1?
We have had 8 members do level 1 in the past 10 months and Region is complaining they have not done the required GRN course as in level 1 they say is only communication not GRN? What are going to do to keep them happy?

When I contacted Adelaide fire, they said Lyrup was paged but didn't respond.
They then contacted Monash who could not get a crew, a member from Monash told me this. I thought Paringa would have been a better bet, but Monash was paged. Finally Berri SAMFS were paged, who responded. On my pager it says 73929(US)39324(LYRUP?). This is why in practice putting all of your eggs in one basket won't work. Finally I apologise to the Lyrup brigade(I didn't want to name brigades involved but you guys are too clever), who are a great bunch of guys and if your pagers didn't get the message that is a real problem that needs to be fixed. Again I didn't want to embarrass people or services, just to highlight that there are different issues in different parts of the state, so a one size fixes all approach wont work. cheers

I would have thought Paringa would have been the second call, they did get paged and respond then got stop call from Adelaida fire.Lyrup pagers did not receive 2 call outs that day not sure if they have had it looked into.

12 to 16 cadets
16 above - Level 1
18 above - more training?

i believe you can do everthing except BA before turning 18. however not having BA accred excludes you from HAZMAT, CFB etc

I thought that if you do not have BA you can still respond to hazmat there would be jobs for them to do to help.

Cook my question still is who was the correct Fire Brigade that should have been responded as looking at the location on whereis.com they where the closest brigade.

Had a recent out of town job near a hamlet called Lyrup - day time page said cleanup only. For us it a 15 - 20 minute drive (if you don't take the ferry). Got there no fire cover, called up Adelaide fire who responded the next closest CFS brigade (which was not the closest resource),

Why was Lyrup not the closest resource? Who do you think should have responded?  Sounds like you came from Berri or Renmark. There pagers did not go off so how could they have responded. Well thats what I was told.

I agree in one way Pip but if you give the public to much to do in regards to phone things in they will not ring in when needed just in case there was something they did not see.
We get responded a lot out of FDS as the land owner does not look after the burnoff, they just light up and off they go other important stuff to do as they say its only a small fire what harm can it do. Thats where the education is needed as you first stated.

Good rumors made it sound as if it was in big trouble and that they might get blue green algy now with no current.

you do have the option of:  example:

OAKB: MANUAL TURNOUT RESPOND STATION CFSRES...at the press of a button.  but as soon as you press it, let adelaide fire know of the incident, to properly get it put into the system.

As for Info messages, three good methods:  Link Email, Link Website, Airsource.

Only if your Alpha Decoder box is working. Our Group will not allow us to get them fixed we have 5 out of the whole group not working

You can get some Travel or Motor Vehicle Allowance for some activity's best way is to look in the Volunteer Finance Manual Version 6 June 2007 section 2.2, 2.3 it may be what you are after. But as they say its being reviewed again as always.

Well in the folder that was handed out at our last Group meeting from Region the answer is no if you are attending a callout to your normal Brigade, and that is what the BSO and Richard Wald also said at the meeting. So have a look in the Finance Manual that should be at your station

Also interesting that MFS did not page the additional information of being 40KMS out to Paringa Brigade whereas it was given to Renmark MFS

Plus they were responded almost 5 minutes later

It is also interesting to note that there were no numbers for the brigade code at the end of the page. :? :?

Also interesting that it took 3 messages to get the right message through
