Title: Reflectors on wheels
Post by: Hazmat206 on December 04, 2008, 08:16:34 PM
Has any one noticed the neon reflectors on our wheel nuts? I'm not sure if every truck has them,i know HQ'S, elizabeth's and gawlers do but glyndes doesn't.

They aren't reflectors they are there to visually show if a wheel nut is coming loose.

Notice how they all point inwards? When the nut loosens, the tag slips and is obviously displaced.

Was there an incident where this happened?

Not sure about within MFS, but there was a fatal at Athlestone where a wheel came off a truck (cement/tipper?) and collected a pedestrian.  Loose/missing wheel nuts was the cause, allegedly.  Just highlighted a need to take active measures to avoid the same thing happening again.

So is this going to be a ruling on trucks in the future (eg on all trucks) or just MFS OH&S ? I have not noticed the extras on trucks driving around.

I think it's compulsory on MFS trucks and optional on other trucks. It may also depend on the class of the truck. I wont be suprised if it's mandatory on all trucks one day.

"BMX Bandits"....ahhh young Nicole, just makes ya want to pass "The Hours" at the "Bangkok Hilton" up the "Cold Mountain" with her, but then you'd better make sure your "Dead Calm" before you go home to the wife, coz she doesnt keep her "Eyes Wide Shut" & if she saw "The Human Stain" there would be "Days Of Thunder" and you really would be in "Dogville". Lets face it though she's not exactly "The Portrait Of A Lady" more of a "Birthday Girl" with a face "To Die For" even without applying "Moulin Rouge", Sorry moderators,...they did a bad bad thing   and got off topic.........Back to yellow nuts...... wife found out! :-D

I don't know what to say... No unhealthy obsession there!

Speaking of yellow nuts, can you recommend a cream to fix the issue?
