That truck was Stirling Pumper for 23 years, Rosworthy had it for 1.
It really should be returned to its original lettering
STIRLING DISTRICT COUNCIL...........

We are all talking about residents here, what happens when Joe Bloggs from Collingwood comes across a MVA at Upper Fumbucker West and doesn't know the name of the road. Even if he does know that, he doesn't know what was the last "major road" he crossed so therefore can not help with which 7,556 Sturt Highway he is at, the one at Upper Fumbucker or the one at Lower Licorice Allsort.
If he sees a RAPID plate he doesn't have to know any of this only where he is accurate to 100km and with or without GPS services can go straight there. This new system will render all current maps and street directories useless and will it be compatible with GPS (new software required). What was needed here was education about the existing system..... I can see it will be useful for posties though..

huh ?????????????????

you get paged to a domestic fire in the midle of the day in on an uran rural 24 with 2 BA sets and 3 crew arrive 2 for whiche ar BA and at tleast 1 who can drive. you should aotomatically be responding with another brigade.

as you don't think you will get any more and the middle of the day other brigades mays struggle with cres so respond but call for another brigade due to low crew. this way you should end up with 3 truck s ~10 crew  ~6BA sets cant see any problems with that.

and on bad fire danger days that 14 with 2 or three guys may be in luck and stop a disaster but of course dont be stupid. (if your 14 is a QAV you can only hve 2 so it is reasonable)

If they are not owned by FAC.(or the DOD) Most airstrips/airfields are owned by councils around the country. There are very few private strips around(if any) that can land anything much bigger than a cessna.
Quite the contrary, Adelaide and Parafield are both privately operated and have been for many years. Although thy are not "privately owned' they are both on a 99 year lease. FAC has not existed for nearly 10 years. Most big airfields around the country, Melbourne/Sydney etc are all pivately operated

It's not a town. It is a property exactly half way between the two towns.

If its good enough for roadworkers to have the 25 zone, we should be afforded the same right as well

What's the point 40 is quite slow enough but people don't do that.
All 25 will do is make the inevitable "rear-enders" worse.

attempt to prosecute you (being the driver, NOT THE OIC) for any breach's of the Road Rules there are several CFS drivers who have been involved in MVA's who have either been investigated and or threatened with prosecution for this to not be serious!
How can the driver be prosecuted when the offence is committed by the person not wearing the seatbelt, if they are over 16 years of age ?........... :? :?

why would you take your pager with you on a school camp :?
My question precisely  :?  :?

Who controls the electronic signs on the freeway and expressway ? Is it TransportSA ?

If so, is that a quick way to divert traffic along with SAPOL at Crafers exit.

The signs are controlled by Transport SA at their Norwood traffic control centre.
This can be in response to a phone call from SAPOL or another emerg service or in response to something they see on the cameras.. :-D

on both the uptrack and downtrack, have warning lights on both sides that illuminate about 1 km each direction from the station. These can be auto activated when the alarm goes. Even further back, place standard road signs warning drivers of an approaching fire station. place a crossover section opposite the station so the trucks can get on both sides of the freeway quickly. Sitting about 50-100 metres from the station place eithe boom gates or traffic lights that will stop traffic so both trucks can roll.

Gee can't imagine that being too hard to get. If the pedestrian boom gates at a level crossing cost $400,000 this would only cost about a gazillion dollars........
