Maybe the person already on contract ? Many jobs currently available within SA SES due to the restructure.
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to.
It will be a shame to see the volunteer role end, many people have provided a lot of hours service to the local community through the SES SCC.
What will the SES SHQ units primary role now become Andrew?
RESPOND RESCUE ANIMAL, CROSS RD/FULLARTON RD NETHERBY,MAP:ADL 131 A12,TG 182, == KOALA IN A TREE :STM401 :
Huh??? Whats next...Rescue fish from pond.......bird from aviary???
Really...this is not an emergency services call. The koala is either in the trees in the Monastery (behind the cement trees) or at the Servo given the location given.
Call in RSPCA, DENR or a wildlife rescue team...but a MFS appliance for this is ridiculous.
Pre CRD and pre CAD you just called SES when you actually needed them, they were happy, no stop calls, and every job they got to work. Every SES member I have spoken to said they want to go back to those days before its to late and they lose more members.
....The SES are responded with different job numbers to CFS/MFS but to the same job,....
Or are you one of the "fire service should do it all" believers?....Have you read Peter Wicks (Onka CFS GO and Onka SES UM) paper on combining the SES and CFS in many areas? He makes very good arguments but unfortunately as I said before, vested interests and empire building has seen it swept under the carpet instead of considering what would be best for the community.....
....Only issue so far is that the GRN's that the SES have can only be changed channel one at a time (so it takes ages) rather than inputting the channel you want to go to like the CFS hand-helds....
....BTW on the incident I see on the news the oil got through the booms in last nights storm and got in to the wetlands!
mmm...ok...I can see how that reads....my added adjectives were similes for the media in general, not SA Firey per se, after he had added his qualifier for his justification in being so close to a going job with a wide exclusion zone for the purpose of taking pictures. I still believe that rubberneckers....whether they be joe public or quasi-media types have no place around a job like that
I reject the adult tag as an outrageous slur....
Let's get back to normal programming.
and for the record.....whilst I certainly used rubbernecker in my post.....you in fact started the personal abuse..lol.... did i mention not very smart either?
QuoteBelieve it or not, there are many that quite happily adapt to change. I think the issue is more the travelling. For example, if you lived in the Barossa Valley or out at Victor and the closest station (that you were permanent at, which means you are unable to claim for travel) was still 45 mins - 1 hrs drive away, would you want to drive even further, keeping in mind that the cluster stations might not even be the neighbouring stations.........

is anything that cuases any form of change ever well recieved by the "settled/comfortable F/F's"
Somehow, I can't see it happening for a long time.
For the record, I personally think it is a good idea.
