Title: change in SES SCC
Post by: bajdas on July 02, 2012, 01:58:22 PM
Yesterday marked a significant change in my volunteering.

Not sure of good or bad (I have some personal opinions which will not be aired), will wait and see if the Unit is allocated a regular response role.

MFS Comcen (Adelaide Fire) will now process all CRD functions for SA SES. No volunteers to be involved.

Good luck MFS Comcen operators when the next multi-incident event occurs. Bye bye end of a era that has been ongoing for approx 15 years.

Well not much is really going to change... MFS comcen handle it anyway until vols arrive an hour or so later... Then only to find the event is over, I know some event can be long duration, but they will just recall staff.

It will be a shame to see the volunteer role end, many people have provided a lot of hours service to the local community through the SES SCC.

What will the SES SHQ units primary role now become Andrew?

Some hints given for all Operations & Co-ordination Units. Will depend on how paid staff settle in their new structure & positions when they handle operations. Possibly SES State Operations Centre, Field Commands, AIIMS, etc....but nothing that would be a regular volunteering role.

Many things caused the demise (volunteer response times was one of them, $$$ another, politics, unions, volunteer management, etc, etc...)
