Your right there are brigades out there who should be rescue full stop that aren't so we should fix that first.

Big rescue brigades that do alot of jobs should have RIV though such as Barker. Look how many jobs they do that the rescue would go to.

What if a tree falls when someone is leaning on it? That's not the weather. Could be terrorism i suppose, killing the western trees.

I believe the rescue version of the type 2 also has a set up ready for rescue gear in the big drivers side locker might not fit our gear but would be easily adapted i assume.

Also you will find most large rescue brigades have pushed for a combi-tool on their second appliance but have been knocked back.

All appliances from the last 34's onwards can only carry 6 crew anyway due to the middle seat being taken out which i think is good, 6 is the best number of crew but i would prefer 5.

yes Blckwood rescue is also a medium pumper with water and a pump and BA. The type 2's make an alright pump/rescue but it would help if cfs ordered the PUMP/RESCUE model which has a few extra bits like the front tool locker goes straight through for a stokes etc.

For info all Mfs 9's are medium rescues the same as most CFS rescue brigades. Plus they carry hazmat gear and now some USAR stuff.

I think almost all the dedicated resues will disappear, from that list only a few will remain.

Aldinga will stay
Blackwoods is a pump/rescue
Dublin are getting a 34p
Kadina i think are getting a 34p
Loby is SES
Stirling will be using their pumper
Waikerie ? will go eventually i assume
Yank is ses

Blinky what if your rescue is at a hazmat 3 hours away?

Pump/rescues are proven CFS just need to come up with a better truck for some brigades with above minimum rescue gear.

I thought that if someone picks the phone up at the station within the first 2 rings or something it didn't go to soc???

There are many different types of PTO's, many can be driven around whilst in PTO, many can't and like you said some you can if you know what you are doing.

I know O'Halloran hill have 2 buttons, 1 for left which gives them the front of station and Majors Rd/Lonsdale highway lights and one for right that does the front of station and Majors rd/South rd lights. Anything more than that i think they need to call up.

Rusty, i guess having civilian call takers that are trained properly and supervised by an experienced person can't be worse than at the moment where someone could have just joined the CFS and answer the alerts phone and give life saving or life ending advise and turn out whoever they can think of off the top of their heads.

Should definitley have 2 portables per appliance if your an EMA brigade, we do.

If the officer has one then you still need one for the BA crew or pump operator etc.

Screw listening to CFS though in MFS area, you have enough to think about, i thought CFS brought a thing out saying we must change to MFS talkgroup and not monitor CFS talkgroups.

By the way brother there are 3 CFS people in the salisbury SAMFS team.

Just coz Mo isn't at Salisbury MFS station... you may have missed something there.

by the way you should be more worried about which state wins not which service.

That makes 40 replies.......

MundCFS you could do like our station used to be and have a timer so that way the siren gets activated all the time it just doesn't get power from 8pm till 8 am so it can't go off during that time.
Now we only activate it the same as pip said when there is a rural fire near town.

I meant the 34's currently being built, Moores should have the first one finished very soon.

I am going up there this week so will see how it's going, i would take photo's but that has been banned due to the whole media stir up with the 34's.

« on: November 06, 2006, 01:50:04 PM »
Like i said you will never fit a BA seat in a dual cab Isuzu.

MFS engineering fit BA seats to their appliances.

Moores can fit BA seats, they just put some in a single cab Isuzu for a mine as it has enough room behind the seat in a single cab for the cylinder to fit.

I think you hit the nail on the head in regards to crews, cfs are trying to build an appliance that can do everything because of crew shortages which i think the 34p's are very good for. The problem lies in just a few brigades that have alot of crew and alot of risks but are not getting the equipment to do this job. Some bigger brigades should have an extra 24 so that they can send 1 to a strike team but still have sufficient cover for their area or neighbouring areas who may have also sent a crew away.

I think everyone will be very impressed with the new 34's as they have twice the locker space and i am very jealous of anyone that is getting one.

Beater, what about if you need to boost? 34P couldn't do 4in and 4 out. Or in some areas you may need to use a ground monitor and multiple 64mm hoses which a 34P won't handle.

All re-furbed appliances are being fitted with BA seats from the FL7's to the newer appliances.

Mmm, he's obviously not in both services or he may have some respect for both and if he is who i think he is he has had his arse saved by CFS many times over the years and he has helped CFS many times so it's hard to see why he is making comments like these.

All they need is for their to be a car and a fixed alarm going off and they could almost put down every incident type on the report.

I think the whole taking handles off for compartment is just someone thinking they were important, they should be left on as they are for general purpose use not just compartment.

You may still have to use your 64mm branches for grassies or set up a ground monitor etc so its better to leave them on.

I wouldn't use those cheapy TFT's as they are just that cheapies.
