ive noticed huge problems with over resourcing in some areas, ie; victor harbor group jobs ;)

but at the end of the day they have gotten the job done.

knackers - what you propose is not really a viable option for a 100% vollunteer service [talking cfs/ses point of view], i know this system works with SAAS, however you are talking about a busier service, with a much smaller group of responders, that partake in a roster. I cannot imagine CFS personell agreeing to this [i know i wouldnt for my brigades 100 jobs a year].

Also, my interpretation of your suggestion would drastically increase response times & put a higher workload on comms... i cant imagine it working well if every firefighter rang in to say they were mobile to the station.

Lets face it... the system we already have works.

Just the silliness of the Aldgate and the Burnside appliances...

I can understand dual response in some areas where its only CFS brigades going, but when 10/14 SAMFS are involved is it really that necessary?

hey... well since theres an MFS appliance attending from a perm station... why bother sending CFS at all really ;)

Suggest you look at what the job is before you start to pick on my Group and the circumstances behind it

single car versus a motorbike, one injury... not much of a job really.

worth noting for your interest Wilma, i did not start this as a seperate thread to bag your brigade, was merely posted in the interesting pager messages thread, moved by mods.

Might be that the operator's of the belief SES does Road Crash there, or clumsy with a mouse.

.. we told Adelaide Fire twice that we are not a RCR unit for this call, and even suggested Barker CFS on the initial call, but oh well.
But someone sitting at a console a long way away knows better than someone with local knowledge! Didnt you know that?  :-D

ever heard of a thing called pre-determined responses in BOMS?

if thats what BOMs says, they hit send. Not everyone has the time to know the entire state like the back of there hand, and if using BOMS there shouldnt be a need to consult the RCRD. Lodge a complaint and get the data changed, thats the only way anything will ever move forward.

in sayingthat though the first instance at Wistow, originally went out as an animal resue, so of course it will call SES... :-)

Problem with using the link operators is the fact they obviously flunked grade 4 spelling.

ive never had a problem speaking clearly & concisely, and then getting them to read it back to me.

this is beyond a joke surely???

11:58:34 24-02-08 Casualty has left the scene, Rd still close. rd to stay close until tow truck has removed vehicles involved. Lyndoch station

12:17:25 24-02-08 CAR AND BIKE BEING LOADED ONTO TOW TRUCK. ROAD TO OPEN IN APPROX 5 - 10 MINUTES. LYNDOCH

12:35:35 24-02-08 BAROSSA VALLEY HIGHWAYIS NOW OPEN. LYNDOCH 14 & 34 ARE RETURNING TO LYNDOCH STATION. JACQUE. - LYNDOCH STATION.24/02/2008 12:35:18 PM

12:41:52 24-02-08 LYNDOCH 14 & HAS RETURNED TO LYNDOCH STATION FROM RCR, ROWLAND FLAT. JACQUE. - LYNDOCH STATION.

12:42:59 24-02-08 LYNDOCH 34 HAS RETURNED TO LYNDOCH STATION FROM RCR, ROWLAND FLAT. JACQUE. - LYNDOCH STATION. 24/02/2008 12:42:42 PM

8 info messages about 1 incident seems excessive? Anyone from the group on here? is it some kind of group SOP? surely sending sitreps back on radio nad logging them is enough, then a simple message when the incident is completed or if there is essential information for crews/group...

do whatever you want(i quite regularly use the web site)

but i would use link/adelaide fire for paging any important messages, as the email/web page are not supported by CFS and wont leave you a legal paper trail if necessary...

just my $0.02

cheers

fire cause is a bit more than that Zippy... MFS/SAPOL tend to both do structural fire cause together, CFS tend to provide "wildfire investigators" however i believe SAPOL also dabble... even then thats not the whole story though... Pip can probably elaborate

btw; also noticed the signs out the front of 20 today too...

Yeah mabye the smoke in area page was always a part of BOMS, I was mistaken (thought BOMS was SOC) tho SOC did page smoke sighting.

no problems mate, the old pages from SOCC were typed in airsource. Therefore they were able to put whatever they felt like into the message. Where as BOMs uses pre-determined incident types, which leads to the famoous "Respond TO" for when they dont quite suit.

I still don't understand why people are having so much trouble grasping the fact that Smoke in area and Smoke sighting are the same thing. They both mean someone has seen some smoke as is unsure of its origin. Its not rocket science. If someone can see what is burning then isn't it paged as "Grass fire/Domestic fire" etc etc? YES.

NO NUMBERS!!!!!!!!

BOMs should have thousands of codes, one for every single possible incident that may occur.....
i can see it now, "respond grey smoke plume" "respond hazy smoke in area" "respond white puffy bits"

sarcasm very much intended.
