Incident Operations / Slow' crews too late to save home
« on: June 07, 2005, 09:54:26 AM »
This was in the Advertiser today

FIREFIGHTERS have been accused of a slow response to a blaze that destroyed a house at Woodcroft yesterday.

The Country Fire Service was called to the Mildara Close address just before 4pm, as flames billowed from the roof.

But neighbours told The Advertiser that fire crews did not arrive until 4.30pm.

By then, the house was well alight it was destroyed by the time the fire was contained about 4.50pm.

I don't believe this, I hope that the CFS put the record straight.
Did anyone from this forum go to this job :|
I hate it when the Advertiser place articles in the paper without finding the facts :x

Incident Operations / Downgraded to Orange
« on: April 10, 2005, 11:02:58 AM »
On the pager on Saturday the message from region 1 was that the fire ban day had been downgraded to Orange (something like that)

What is Orange (yes it is a colour)
Is this something new the CFS has made up again?
In my opinion it is a fire ban or not

Red stand by
Orange half stands by! wtf
Green goes home

Have I got this all wrong, did I miss the downgrade or code orange document.

SA Firefighter General / BA Operators
« on: March 17, 2005, 07:05:11 AM »
Brenton Keen was on the radio talking about the new turnout gear.
He mentioned that the CFS has 1400 trained structural firefighters.
Does this mean that we have only 1400 BA operators

The CFA have an excellent web page http://cfaonline.cfa.vic.gov.au/mycfa/Show?pageId=publicIncidentInfo
That has an update of all current incidents. Worth a look if you have not seen it before

I which that the CFS could have a web page like this

All Equipment discussion / CAFS
« on: February 17, 2005, 07:18:11 AM »
The ACT fire brigade has purchased 3 new CAFS appliances. I think it was 2 volvos and 1 ISSU.
I wonder if the CFS will go down this line. Blackwood has a CAFS as well.
What are people's thought of this new way of fire fighting :?:

« on: February 16, 2005, 01:37:21 PM »
I have been looking at a few CFS web sites and the trend is to put the MFS station numbers eg Station XX.
What is your opinion on this for CFS brigades ?
1) Good idea
2) MFS wanna bees
