Country Fire Service / Re: Removing members from the books

Brigades can have their own rules, but it's not an automatic process.  You have to write to them I think twice before an application can be made to region to have them removed.

I think membership of many experienced long serving members will end up being cancelled or handed in if that came in.  Its hard enough getting them to do the burn over drill some times.

Is there a website that actually states what the FDI's are for towns that is readily accessible?

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/sa?list=ob&subset=a#list has current ops

« on: December 20, 2010, 08:21:12 AM »
captain has to authorise and sight the licenses of any drivers of any of cfs fleet vehicle.

They decide who can drive what and when.

Provision/Probational License holders can't respond P1

Until there is enough funding for the responding in a emergency courses, I doubt they can make it a requirement for all drivers as a must have

Often is.  Is Barker34P allowed to go so far out of the area

Why wouldn't it be?

Figured it would leave Mt Barker and surrounds short on fire cover, but considering they were in Hahndorf  good thinking from someone.

Are you in the CFS?  If so, talk to your brigade comms officer, or the group comms officer.  They need to fill in a M01 form, but different groups have different setups as to who does this stuff.

The old feed is still available at http://paging.sacfs.org/feed1/public.php :)

Cheers for that.  Yeh I tried that, but for some reason my script thinks the columns are different and just sends me Blank msgs now.  Will have to fix it up before season starts, plus look for this M01 form. :D

Cheers

Who do you need to speak to sms pages?  And what conditions are placed on who can?

Other option can they email them instead?

ATM since I have no reception at work I have a script that scapes the sacfs paging site looking for what I want to know about and either just get an email or forward it out our sms gateway depending on what it is.  Works ok (well it did before site changed the formatting and I haven't got around to fixing it), but it generates a false results, it's delayed, and chews a fair bit of data.

pretty sure they roll all BA brigades in our group to confirmed fires, but I can't be sure.  I'd say the theory is to get enough BA operators coz the chances are, each will only have 1or2 members on each truck at best.  Not sure what the first alarm response is though.

I guess it would really depend on where it was and what resources the closest brigade has.

Interesting time on verge of the busy period for the CFS......

it's never the right time to take on a new job for the place you are leaving.

Take the opportunities when they present.

from my experience it's easier in government agencies to have budget for operational expenditure (lease/rent), than it is for capital exp(out right).  Cap ex is the first thing to get the slash during budget cuts.  You also run into the problem where in year 1 you spend a few mill on new things, then in 5-7 years when you need to replace them you won't be able to find the money.

The other painful thing is that you can't carry money over year to year.  So you can't save it up.

Until the government fixes how the money works, unfortunately poor spending decisions need to be done.

Any jobs that you attend will show up on your TAS, which you can check through the CFS website members section.

So if you went to a job and it isn't on your TAS list then it hasn't been entered into the system (and there could be lots of reasons why it hasn't happened).

Or it's been listed to someone else.

a couple calls earlier this year have most of our 70yr+ support members as attending :D

If paperwork isn't being received, is incomplete, unreadable or wrong,  there should be a process to follow up with the brigade if there is missing reports so that it is accurate.  It's going to end up in court one day and hopefully the brigade has filed a copy of their own.  Thats assuming that they have done the report in the first place and haven't forgotten.

Suprised noone noticed this... All those false alarms, and then the system doesn't activate for the real deal! Not good. Hopefully not too much 'serious' damage.

Where'd you see this. Can't see it anywhere.

MFS: *CFSRES INC035 15/09/10 16:37,RESPOND RUBBISH FIRE,48 VINCENT RD,PARALOWIE MAP 60 H 16 TG182,CODE GREEN,SUSPECT CALLER REPORTING FIRE IN FRONT Y,ARD, FROM A PHONE IN QUEENSLAND...,SAIR55 SAL321 - MFS Salisbury 321

Are colour codes a normal thing?

Is it a P2 or beware type of response?

meanwhile it turns out to be a 3rd/4thish alarm grass fire....

Since it should have been probably swanport groups in the first place, it may have not have got raised at all.  Palmer, Callington & Monarto would have been better choices rather than Nairne/ Brukunga.  All's good in hindsight.

Bad info from caller or bad info in what ever is used to dispatch which brigades.

Country Fire Service / Re: GO/DGO/Duty Officer Responding to Incidents
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:00:50 PM »
I don't know what the official procedure is, but our GO's don't generally respond to everything, but they do listen in. So they may not be on scene, but they are aware of what is happening.  I would say that if they make it there first, they would assume IC, but I would if they don't expect to stay they pass it onto someone else.
